Artist:Kenny Burrell
Song:Out For Blood
Album:Introducing Kenny Burrell:The First Blue Note Sessions
Kenny Burrell is a very popular jazz guitarist who came out of the Detroit jazz scene of the early 50s. He had already played with Dizzy Gillespie at age 20 and moved to New York in 1956 and signed with Blue Note. Introducing Kenny Burrell was his first released recording in the US but his actual first recording for Blue Note was not released and his third record was only released in Japan. This 2CD comp rectifies this by including all three albums recorded by Burrell in 1956. So this is definitely worth getting. Out For Blood is a great song from the Japan only album called K.B. Blues. Musicians are Hank Mobley on tenor sax, Horace Silver on piano, Doug Watkins on bass & Louis Hayes on drums. Kenny Burrell moved to Los Angeles in 1972 and teaches jazz courses in universities. He also continues to record for Concord Jazz and still has an avid following.
