Artist:Dietrick Haddon
Song:Heavenly Father
Album:7 Days
Dietrick Haddon is a contemporary gospel artist who has been described as the gospel Usher. He also gets a lot of heat from the church for being too secular. He can't win. Haddon is a preacher's kid from Detroit who formed the group Voices Of Unity with his wife Damita Haddon and brother Gerald Haddon on Tyscot Records. Dietrick had to leave Tyscot for Verity Records to get wider distribution for his music and his record sales have taken off. He writes and produces most of his own music with his brother. On his new CD 7 Days, Dietrick gave up full control and enlisted veteran R & B producing team Tim & Bob to give the record a mainstream R & B vibe. Tim Kelley & Bob Robinson started out as producers for Maurice Starr's short lived boy band Perfect Gentlemen in 1989. They established themselves a few years later with acts like Shanice and Boyz II Men. Of course Dietrick has been criticized by the church for working with them but he says he's known them for years and always wanted to work with them. Heavenly Father is among the tracks the three wrote & produced. Dietrick Haddon doesn't apologize for trying to reach a secular audience. He's still a great singer songwriter and his message is still the same.
