We don't really need another vanity joshi show but veteran referee Tommy Ran Decided to celebrate her 20th anninversary in joshi by producing her own show on Wednesday at Shin-kiba 1st Ring. As long as she doesn't make a habit of it. Forget about the card you might have seen before the show. You know what they say about a card being subject to change. All the matches were supposed to be a tribute to all the companies Tommy worked for and except for the first obvious comedy match, the show was pretty decent. So congratualtions to Tommy Ran on her 20th anniversary in the joshi business. Here's the results of the show.

Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

baby-M's retirement show
The final M's Style show of 2005 was baby-M's retirement show and was on Dec. 23 at Korakuen Hall. The show started with Mariko Yoshida being awarded the Lady Gong 2005 MVP award. Yoshida then finished off Cherry in short order. baby-M teamed with MIKAMI and defeated Dick Togo & GAMI in her retirement match. The main event is part of this M's Style general manager angle between AKINO & Hikaru. AKINO took the offensive by knocking Hikaru out with a kick to the jaw. Hikaru was carried out on a stretcher and taken to hospital. Was it an angle? It's hard to tell. Ayako Hamada ran in and was upset because of the sudden death of Emiko Kado in ARSION and she didn't want that to happen again. AKINO beat her too. Ayako then berated M's Style wrestlers Ayumi Kurihara, Leon & Bullfight Sora to show a little backbone and take charge of things in M's Style. We'll find out soon enough if this is an angle. There may be something going on that we aren't aware of and they have to replace Hikaru in the angle. Good luck to baby-M in her retirement. Here's the results of the show.

Today's physiotherapy & new joshi DVDs
I picked up the mail on my way out and received some new joshi DVDs in the mail from my Aussie pals Amy Action & Bliss Inc. They're about the only ones selling this product who take the time to put the DVDs in boxes with full colour covers. And the DVDs are cheap too. So go visit the girls at http://www.wrestlegirlz.com/ and invest in some top notch entertainment. I'll try and write reviews of the videos shortly. I showed the covers to a couple of guys at the hospital and they thought the Yumi Fukawa videos must be pornos. Yeah, Yumi is sexy as hell but she can kick your butt too.
I feel like I'm starting to make some real progress in physio especially with the walking with canes. I did more with that today than in previous sessions. We'll keep working at it when I go back to Lyndhurst on Tuesday.

Artist:Miles Davis
Song:Pharoah's Dance
Album:The Complete Bitches Brew Sessions
Miles Davis' Bitches Brew is one of the most influential of jazz albums and really started the jazz/rock fusion movement back in 1970. It was also the first jazz album I ever listened to many years ago. Miles was always ahead of the curve and I think now the supposed jazz experts realize that Miles was a genius and Bitches Brew was brilliant. Most of the musicians on Bitches Brew had their own successes and credit Miles for that. This 4CD box set of The Complete Bitches Brew Sessions comes in a metal box and is a must for any jazz fan and I do have it in my collection.

JD Star's Christmas show
JD Star had a rather unusual show yesterday at Shin-kiba 1st Ring. The start of the show had eight wrestlers come to the ring to draw lots dividing them into two teams. The red team was Shuu Shibutani, Fuuka, Sachie Abe & Nanae Takahashi. The blue team was Kyoko Kimura, Mika Nishio, Kana & Saki Maemura. They would participate in an Elimination Match. But first, GAMI & Fang Suzuki defended the TWF Tag Team Titles over The Bloody & the returning Yumi Ohka. GAMI made Ohka submit with the figure four leglock in 29:47.
The Elimination Match was not a tag match but a series of 10 minute time limit singles matches. It seems the way it worked was a wrestler was eliminated with a loss or a time limit draw. I guess this way certain wrestlers don't have to job. First, Nanae Takahashi defeated Saki Maemura in 4:21. Then, Takahashi vs Mika Nishio ended in a time limit draw. so both are eliminated. Then, Sachie Abe vs Kyoko Kimura ended in a time limit draw. Kana defeated Fuuka in 6:20. Shuu Shibutani defeated Kana in 7:08 to give the win to the red team. All through the match wrestlers interfered from the outside to break up pins. I guess they did that to give the match more excitement. It seems like pretty goofy booking to me. If you do a match like this, wouldn't you want the best wrestlers in the ring at the end? I also don't like it when draws eliminate wrestlers. It makes the whole thing anti-climactic. So it was a Merry Christmas for JD Star fans and hopefully they enjoyed the show.

The Bloody & Fang Suzuki discuss retirement
The Bloody & Fang Suzuki went to the Nikkan Sports office yesterday to discuss their retirement show on New Year's Eve at Shinjuku FACE. Both of them said they wanted to go out with a bang and The Bloody said that many of her fellow wrestlers would be there and she wants to put on a good show for them. Retirement shows are usually very sentimental but the two said that they will fight to the end against Mayumi Ozaki & Dynamite Kansai in the LSD 2005 match. Fang said she plans to use her head and the 2005 seconds effectively. Fang says she is retiring due to a hernia in her cervical vertebrae. The Bloody is very happy to be retiring in perfect health. I can't believe The Bloody is only 28. Neither has any firm post retirement plans but both hope to finish their careers with a victory.
Maid Machines added to GIRLS DOOR show
Whattaya know? The Masked Housemaids or Maid Machines or whatever have been added to the New Years Eve GIRLS DOOR show at Shinjuku FACE. They will face Megumi Yabushita & Michiko Ohmukai. That will probably be a decent match.
More Hustle foolishness
Yesterday's Hustle house show at Korakuen Hall had a six person tag match. Erica, Margaret & Susumu Otani Jiro vs Darcon Z, Jaguar Y & Yasuda Tadao. Jaguar pinned Erica for the win and then as you will be able to tell by the pic gallery, there was a dance routine. Oh yeah. Erotic Terrorist Yin Ling announced her retirement from Hustle. Yesterday was her final show. I'm sure you'll all miss her.

Christmas dinner in Uxbridge
The other day, one of my fellow patient friends from Lyndhurst asked me to come to his house for Christmas dinner. His name is Ted. Needless to say, when you're in a wheelchair, going anywhere can be a logistical nightmare. And Uxbridge isn't across the street. So the main issue was transportation and if I could solve that, I would go. Our mutual friend and fellow patient Godfrey called me on Saturday and asked if I wanted to go to Uxbridge with him. I said I would get back to him. After confirming a couple of things with Ted, I called Godfrey back and told him what we were going to do and that I was going. Of course one of the big problems is I can't get the power chair into a car and I don't have a backup manual chair. There would be one other hurdle once I got to the house and I will explain that in a moment. Let's just say I did a couple of things I hadn't done before.
Godfrey and his girlfriend Tara arrived at my place at 2PM. I went down to Godfrey's car in my chair and transferred into the front seat of the car. I hadn't done that before but it was no big deal. Godfrey took my chair up to my apartment and locked up. So what am I going to do when I get to Ted's house? First, they have a chair lift from the garage to the main floor of the house. Second, Ted has a couple of wheelchairs that I can borrow while I'm there. So we're off to Uxbridge. It's a long trip but traffic was pretty good. The other problem was that there are 13 steps going from the main floor down to Ted's family room. He was very concerned about that because he knows I can't walk but he has a cane and a walker. Just because I haven't navigated stairs doesn't mean I can't do it. I have walked with canes and a walker so I felt that if I was careful, I would be OK. So with everyone watching me like a hawk, I went down the stairs very slowly with one hand on the bannister and the other with a cane. It went very well and everyone, including myself, was very relieved. I used the walker to get to the sofa in the family room. Obviously once I did that, I was confident about doing it again and I knew I could do it in the first place anyway. You have to be that way or you'll never do anything. We went back upstairs for traditional Christmas dinner with turkey and everything. The dinner was great and then we went back downstairs to watch one of Godfrey's DVDs.
When it was time to leave, it was snowing heavily in Uxbridge. Visibility was poor so Godfrey had to be extra cautious on the road back to the highway. There was snow and heavy traffic on Hwy. 401 but there was no snow in the city. It was just raining a bit. Godfrey went up to my apartment to get my chair and I transferred out of the car into the chair. So a successful but complicated road trip. Many thanks to Godfrey for his help and I look forward to our future business dealings. And special thanks to Ted and his family for their hospitality to all of us. We all enjoyed ourselves and we greatly appreciated the invitation. It meant a lot to us.

Let's all go to Hustle
Here ya go, folks. Here's a link to Sportsnavi's gallery from today's goofy Hustle show. It's Erica (Aja Kong) & Margaret (Amazing Kong) vs Jaguar Y (Jaguar Yokota) & Docron Z formerly Arisin Z (Ayako Hamada). Ayako lost her mask at her last show so they've changed her name. Jaguar has been made to look like a cat of some sort. Ayako & Jaguar won the match. On a non-joshi note, former WWE stiff Kenzo Suzuki was on the show and his wife Hiroko has been named GM of Hustle.

Today's physiotherapy
We tried a bike machine at physio today. They have a couple of different machines. I didn't like this one much because my size 12 clodhoppers were too big for the pedals and kept slipping out. I also kept sliding off the seat though transferring into the seat was no problem. I like the MotoMed a lot better because I can stay in my chair and the feet attach to the foot pedals with ankle straps so it doesn't matter how big my feet are. We also continued with various leg lifts and also walking with canes. I was very happy with the walking today. Lyndhurst is closed on Tuesday for Boxing Day so I will return next Thursday.
More matches announced for New Year's Eve GIRLS DOOR show
GIRLS DOOR has added more matches to their New Year's Eve show at Shinjuku FACE. Other than the main event of Tomoko Watanabe vs Ayako Hamada, the card looks pretty underwhelming. A couple of weeks ago they added a handicap match with Kumiko Maekawa vs Police & GIRLS DOOR GM Yoshihiro Tsurura. If you recall, Maekawa nailed Tsurura with a chair at the first show. It's the kind of match that annoys me so I figured I'd wait until more matches were announced. All the new matches appear to be vets vs rookies except for another appearance by the masked wrestler Do Monar who on the first show was dispatched by Maekawa in two minutes. There are two more matches to be announced. Maybe The Housemaids will return. Here's the updated card.

Christy Hemme speaks about her firing from the WWE
Christy Hemme posted the following last night on the message board of her website. Her situation was very similar to Daniel Puder. She won a contest and was making too much money. So instead of asking her to take a pay cut, they sent her to OVW in order to force her to quit. When her reaction was exactly the opposite of what they expected, they fired her anyway. I didn't like Christy and I hate the Bimbo Search but it's pretty obvious that she gladly did whatever she was asked and it's a hell of a way for the WWE to treat someone. BTW, there are already rumours that Dixie Carter has been in contact with Christy so don't be surprised if Christy turns up in TNA after the non compete clause runs out.
Hello everyone! Thank you so much to everyone who has and is still supporting me. Even though the partnership with WWE and I did not end very will (sic), I am truly thankful for the experience. All I can say at this time to clear up some of the rumors, there was no battle over money. Money was never my motivation for working. Truth is that I was completely dedicated to the company and believed in everything I was doing. I trusted it. I was willing to put my personal life aside to give everything I had to what I was doin and become better wrestler/performer. I was told that I was a budget cut and creatively they didn't have anything for me. I am very disappointed in the WWE, where I learned a very important lesson. I am a very determined person with a huge amount of engery for my life and my career. Everything happens for a reason and anything that has happened in my life that has knocked me down has only built me back up stronger. I feel stronger than ever and I am hungry for this huge future before me. Again, THANK YOU soooo much to everyone who has believed in me and is supporting me.

Today's physiotherapy
It's always funny when a little snow falls and the traffic goes all to hell. That's the way it was on Wheeltrans. My ride going home was a half hour late and that was a long trip home. There's not even that much snow. It's scattered flurries. Lately in physio, we've been concentrating on leg lifts and walking with canes. It's going pretty good and I'll return to Lyndhurst on Thursday.
Dianne Reeves getting noticed in film Good Night and Good Luck
The following is courtesy of Reuters. I've been a Dianne Reeves fan for over 20 years and it's always nice to see someone that good get some mainstream recognition. Instead of wasting your money on flavour of the month jazz singers, invest your time & money with someone as reliable as Dianne Reeves. You can't go wrong with great talent.
Close, but no Globe, for jazz singer Dianne Reeves
By Steve James
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Jazz singer Dianne Reeves wonGrammys' for her last three albums. Unfortunately, she won't be setting a Golden Globe on her mantlepiece soon.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. recognizes only original songs, and Reeves performs jazz standards on screen throughout George Clooney's film "Good Night, and Good Luck," which just picked up four Golden Globe nominations.
Her renditions of tunes like Nat "King" Cole's "Staighten Up and Fly Right" and Cole Porter's "I've Got My Eyes on You," are used by director/actor Clooney to punctuate scenes and add pointed commentary to his film about TV newsman Edward R. Murrow's ideological battle with Sen. Joseph McCarthy in 1950's red-baiting America.
"I can't complain," says Reeves of the lack of Golden Globe recognition for her performances, in which she performs in 50's-style dresses with a jazz combo in smoke-filled clubs.
After all, the film has given new visibility to a singer who has been around for years, but recognized little outside a coterie of traditional jazz purists.
"I got a call from George Clooney's office asking for a video of me signing 'How High the Moon,"' she told Reuters in a recent telephone interview. "I then left for Asia and when I came back I had the job."
Working with Clooney was intriguing, she said, not least because he is the nephew of Rosemary Clooney, a singer whom Reeves has long admired. "George adored his aunt, and during the whole recording he told us stories about her.
"I did an event with her one time, she was a nice woman. Apparently she told George she liked the way I sang.
"She was one I looked up to as a singer who had the ability to be a great story-teller,' said Reeves. "In recent years I have looked for material with stories. I am inspired by that."
This is not Reeves' first movie appearance. She was in 1991's "Guilty by Suspicion" with
Robert De Niro but sang only one song, "Easy Come, Easy Go."
However on "Good Night, and Good Luck," there is a whole CD's worth of songs -- chosen by Clooney -- which have now been released as a soundtrack album by Concord Records.
"George Clooney is so bright and intelligent but down-to-earth and has that Kentucky spirit that makes it fun," said Reeves, of the 2-1/2 days she spent working on the movie set.
One thing Reeves wants people to know is that although she was born in Detroit and was influenced by the Motown sound, she is not related to Martha Reeves of Martha and the Vandellas.
"I get asked that all the time," she said, adding however that jazz funk keyboardist George Duke is a cousin and her uncle, Charles Burrell, a double bass player, was one of the first blacks to play with the San Francisco Symphony.

Artist:Billy Porter
Song:Use Me
Album:From The Corner of Broadway & Soul
This is Billy Porter's third CD but the first one to get noticed. Porter is a Broadway performer who grew up singing in church in his native Pittsburgh. Like Heather Headley, he's taking his Broadway experience and applying it to his gospel/soul roots. It's a very effective combination. Check him out.

Nanae Takahashi returns at Flash 7 show
It was about a year ago that Nanae Takahashi blew out her knee while winning the WWWA Singles Title from Ayako Hamada. The injury forced Takahashi to drop the belt to Kumiko Maekawa and she has been on the shelf since appearing on her best friend Momoe Nakanishi's retirement show on Jan. 8. Then All Japan Women closed and Takahashi & Hikaru opened their own booking office called Flash 7.
Takahashi chose Sunday's second Flash 7 show to make her return to the ring in front of a full house of 602. Her opponent was her old tag partner Ayako Hamada. Not surprisingly, Ayako concentrated her attack on Takahashi's knee with low dropkicks. Then Ayako threw her outside the ring and continued to attack Nanae's knee. Ayako's older sister Xochitl Hamada joined in and the two of them busted Takahashi open with chairs & barbed wire bats. Ayako gave Nanae a Frankensteiner on the announce table and followed it with a power bomb. Takahashi came back with a Shining Wizard and the Nanarack for a near fall but Ayako won the match in 29:06. Nanae Takahashi is considered a major ace in today's joshi business so her return was greeted warmly by fans. I think she's a very good wrestler who has become a main event performer by default because most others aren't very good.
After the match, the soon to retire Kumiko Maekawa came down to the ring to challenge Nanae Takahashi to a match. Not only do these two have unfinished business in the ring but it is well known that they don't like each other for real. This match will likely happen at the upcoming KO Productions show in a couple of weeks. Here's the results of the Flash 7 show.
FLASH 7 - 12/18/05 - Shinjuku FACE
Natsuki*Head - 17 min draw - Kana
FOUR WAY MATCH:Jaguar Yokota def. Nozomi Takesako, Cherry & Tomoka Nakagawa in 18:53

Hikaru & Meiko Satomura def. AKINO & Leon (Hikaru over Leon in 26:24)

Christmas party in the co-op
We had a Christmas party last night in the co-op. I guess that's what separates co-ops from regular apartment building. Of course it's mostly for the kids. But I went up to chat with some of the other residents and the building management. Of course they had free food. That's always the best kind. Of course folks are very curious and ask about what I am doing in a wheelchair and I tell them. That doesn't bother me. Kids in the building are always asking about the power chair. I just tell them not to touch it. These days I just tell them all to read my blog. We have a new interim manager in Dawn and she asked me about starting a blog and I gave her instructions. I bugged Marlon about fixing something for me. He seems to like playing Santa. It looks like all the kids enjoyed the party and all the adults enjoyed blabbing to each other. It's always good to meet new people and I'll see them around the neighbourhood.

Paul Tracy to run NASCAR Busch Series races
The following is courtesy of MRN Radio Racing One. Paul Tracy in NASCAR is a big deal to Canadian NASCAR fans mainly because he will force the media, esapecially TSN, to cover NASCAR better than they do now. TSN won't carry Busch Series races now. Tracy's prescense will force them to do so. I know that seems stupid and TSN would never admit that but that's how they think.

The ARCA RE/MAX Series began three days of testing Friday at Daytona International Speedway, allowing Erin Crocker, Burnie Lamar and a number of other young drivers to get their first laps around the historic 2.5-mile oval in preparation for the February 11 ARCA 200. It also allowed open-wheel champion Paul Tracy to get his first laps in preparation for a partial NASCAR Busch Series campaign."I’m hoping to run a few NASCAR races next year, and Andy Hillenburg has been real helpful by letting me drive his ARCA car today, just to get the experience of Daytona, what it’s like on the high banks," Tracy said. "Then, we’ll be back here right after New Year’s in the Grand American test for three days (January 4-6). I’m just trying to get a lot of different experience with a lot of different cars, to keep myself busy.""Today was my first time here in a stock car. I ran a Cup car at Michigan, one of Richard Childress’ cars, but obviously, this is a lot different. I ran my first 10 laps and I think we were sixth quickest, so I’m pretty happy with that."Tracy hopes to run six-10 races with the Biagi Brothers in the Busch Series, including both Daytonas, Talladega, "Mexico City for sure," Las Vegas and Indianapolis, along with one NEXTEL Cup Series race, possibly at California Speedway."I’d like to mix in a few short tracks, too," Tracy said. "It all comes down to the team finding some sponsorship."

Visit to new doctor & today's physiotherapy
We didn't get the big snowstorm last night so I was able to go see my new doctor Dr. Matthews this morning. Her office is about ten minutes from my apartment, She seems very nice and I'll see her again next month after she gets my medical records from Dr. Pliamm. She has to do some bureaucratic paperwork for me too.
The snow started coming down by the time I left for Lyndhurst this afternoon. We picked up a patient I know from Lyndhurst at the infamous Queen Elizabeth Centre nursing home. Nobody wants to end up at that place. He says he's starting to get his act together and hopes to find housing soon. I told him to take what he can get and he should be OK. He doesn't really belong at that place. He should still be at Lyndhurst. But turning over patients is what it's all about in our hospital system today. It didn't used to be like that. Am I glad I found my own apartment.
Physiotherapy went well today. We did the usual leg lift exercises and walking with canes. I sure was pooped. I guess that's a good thing. The snowstorm is in full swing. It's supposed to last all night. Traffic on the way home was bad. I'll see what things look like in the morning. I'm not looking forward to this. I'm back at Lyndhurst on Tuesday. Oh and they're having a Christmas Party in the building tomorrow night. Who doesn't love free food?

Today's physiotherapy
I had to go to Lyndhurst a little early today to see the social worker about some bureaucratic paperwork. It's a little cold today but we're not supposed to get any snow until Thursday. Physio went pretty well today. They had to empty out the gym for some event so patients were exercising in the hall. We did some exercises with a ball designed to improve control in my legs. My left leg didn't want to cooperate. The parallel bars weren't available due to the chaos in the gym so I walked with a couple of canes. It was OK but I prefer the parallel bars as I can work with them for a longer time period. I will return to Lyndhurst on Thursday and I will see my new doctor on Thursday morning. I'm still waiting for my new chair.

T-1 announces second joshi show
Last summer, the T-1 mobile phone company sponsored their first joshi show. T-1 held a press conference today to announce they would sponsor their second joshi show on February 23, 2006 at Shinjuku FACE. T-1 rep Futami was in attendance along with wrestlers Chikayo Nagashima, Kaori Yoneyama, Yuna & Nozomi Takesako.
Futami said that the first show turned out very well and fans have demanded a second show. The truth is the gate was weak but promoting joshi shows is a good way to promote the joshi news service T-1 provides to their customers. Of course he said this second show would be better than the first. The first two matches announced are Chikato Nagashima vs Kaori Yoneyama and a rookies match between Yuna & Nozomi Takesako. Nagashima & Yoneyama both cut promos. Nagashima said something about wanting to prove herself as the ace of the company. Yoneyama talked about how hard she is training and of course she will win.
Futami said that he would like to get Kumiko Maekawa to revive the WWWA Singles Title for the show but the two don't see eye to eye so he might not be able to do that. They had a disagreement at the first show but Futami claimed that was smoothed over and he's not even upset that Maekawa is working for GIRLS DOOR. Among companies participating in the show are JWP, OZ Academy, IWA Japan, Guts World, M's Style, Breath, K-Dojo & CPE.

Anita Baker became a huge star in the mid 80s with a jazz/soul sound that was the complete opposite of the type of sound that normally is played on the radio. Anita is a tremendous vocalist very much influenced by the late great Dinah Washington. She also writes & produces most of her own material so like Aretha Franklin & Oleta Adams, she's a great musician too. WWE releases Yoshihiro Tajiri
The WWE announced on their website that veteran Japanese wrestler Yoshihiro Tajiri has asked for and received his released. The announcement was removed from the site because Tajiri will make his final appearance on this Monday's RAW. Tajiri recently signed a three year contract renewal with the WWE. Last week he wrote in a Japanese newspaper that he was burnt out with the travel schedule and still upset about Eddie Guerrero's death. Tajiri has a young family in Japan and wants to spend more time with them. He has also expressed interest in the past of becoming a journalist and I expect him to pursue that. He has a 90 day non compete clause but it's not yet known if he plans to remain an active wrestler. Tajiri became a star in North America while he was in ECW. After ECW went under, Paul Heyman recommended him for the WWE. He's a very good wrestler with martial arts moves and his signature Tarantula hold. He's been stuck in RAW's midcard mainly because of his lack of size but he's a very reliable guy and that's why the WWE re-signed him. You know that Tajiri is a veteran and will always give a good performance. The WWE will miss him because they do have to have good solid guys in the midcard. A lot of the younger guys don't cut it. I wish all the best to Yoshihiro Tajiri with whatever he does in the future. He was always entertaining and I'll miss seeing him on TV.
Snow fun out there
We got over 10 cm (5-6 inches) of snow overnight. Erika asked me this morning how I was going to get around. It's summer in Australia.LOL I did OK. Maybe in the future I'll wait for the streets and sidewalks to be cleaned. I noticed from my apartment window that the streets are being cleaned now. I almost got stuck going up a couple of curbs and the chair does slide around a bit in deep snow. I don't want to hit any walls. But that's the way the weather is here so I will have to deal with it. It was interesting.

Today's physiotherapy
First of all, my wheelchair guy Rich called me yesterday and says I will have my new power chair by the end of next week. We'll do the exchange at Lyndhurst. I saw my primary nurse Lorna today for the first time since discharge and she seemed pretty pleased with my progress. She was my primary nurse back in the spring when things were really tough. She made me do stuff that I really didn't want to do at the time but turned out really well. She helped me a lot and I will always appreciate that. Another nurse Tim was there too. He normally works weekends. A real nice guy and strong as a horse.
Physio went OK today but I am getting a little impatient with the progress. I almost think that I have reached a plateau. I told William that I would like to do more to strengthen my knees and my quads. So we will likely do more knee bends and some leg lifts with weights. He wants to do more walking with the parallel bars. We'll try that but I have my doubts about the effectiveness. I don't like it when I do leg movements and there's no control. So I'd like to work on getting more control and stop flopping around. I'm not looking to do easy exercises but I want to do things that I feel are working. And I get bored easily too. I'll return to Lyndhurst on Tuesday. I have to see a couple of other people while I'm there.

Artist:Kierra "Kiki" Sheard
Song:You Don't Know
Album:I Owe You
Every once in a while, a new singing talent comes along and blows everyone away. Such is the case with 18 year old gospel singer Kiki Sheard. She certainly has the pedigree. Her mom is Karen Clark Sheard from legendary gospel group The Clark Sisters and her grandma was gospel legend Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. Kiki clearly learned her lessons well as she really delivers the goods on this Rodney Jerkins written & produced song. A major talent worth checking out.

Today's physiotherapy
I got over to Lyndhurst for physiotherapy early today. Wheeltrans kept changing the pickup time but it was early so it didn't matter much. Getting there early gave me time to blab with some of my fellow outpatients like Josh, Bruce & AJ and I also took the time to join the Canadian Parapalegic Association. I have to see Patricia the social worker next week to fill out some forms so I went to see her to make an appointment. I asked Rich about my chair and he said the girl at the office who traces that stuff just came back from holidays so he'll let me know in a couple of days. We worked on the usual exercises in physio today; posture, leg lifts, some standing and walking with parallel bars. I was yakking about computer security with a couple of the guys while waiting for my ride. Download a free spyware scanner today. I'm back at Lyndhurst on Thursday and we'll keep working at it. Also, I found a new doctor today. It's about a ten minute trip from my apartment and I will see her next Wednesday.
It's yet another new joshi promotion
Guess what folks? We had another announcement today of yet another new joshi puroresu promotion. Just what we need, eh. Veteran wrestler GAMI held a press conference today in Tokyo to announce she's starting a new promotion in January called THE WOMAN complete with logo. GAMI has been running a few stand alone shows under the M's Style banner this year and now she wants to make a big splash of her own...or go broke trying. GAMI says that she agrees that there are a lot of joshi promotions but that THE WOMAN will be different because she plans to offer a more comedic wrestling show. Not surprising considering GAMI is known as a comedy wrestler. I guess she hasn't watched any NEO shows lately. The debut show will be on January 6 at Shin-kiba 1st Ring. GAMI will face Toshie Uematsu in the main event. Too bad neither of them are main event wrestlers. The rest of the card will be announced later and GAMI is hoping for a favourable reaction to this from the other companies and wrestlers. The plan is for THE WOMAN to run one show a month at Shin-kiba 1st Ring and GAMI is aiming for a sell out crowd of 350. That's a very nice goal but is it realistic considering the continued dilution of the joshi business and the number of new promotions that have started in recent days?
Penny Banner back home

These treatments will begin at the beginning of the year and should be one time a week. YES....he did say I would most likely lose my hair. I hear sometimes it comes back curly and thicker...I need that ;-)
I still feel just fine, and will probably get back in the pool around February..I was released today to do ONLY arm exercises...and can begin driving this coming Friday. Yippee
Love and Hugs to all of you, thank you for keeping me in your prayers..........and Merry XmasPenny

Erika Watanabe announces retirement
JWP's Erika Watanabe announced her retirement at Saturday's JWP show at Shinjuku FACE. She has been diagnosed with an illness and will retire at the January 22 Cinema Club show. She said she had not been feeling well lately. Erika is 27 years old and made her debut on Jan. 23, 1998. She did leave the joshi business for a couple of months in 2003. At the time her work ethic was questioned but she did return and now Erika is forced to retire.
WWE releases Christy Hemme
The WWE released Christy Hemme today. Christy was the 2004 WWE Diva Search winner and had posed in Playboy as well. She had recently made a determined effort to improve her ring skills and posted the following on her website saying she was planning to train full time at OVW. Her release seems awfully strange to me. It's either one of two things. Maybe the office was against Christy going to OVW full time and she balked at whatever they wanted her to do. The other and more likely possibility is money. Remember she earned $250K in her first year.
Hello everyone! It's been a while since the last update and I am so sorry! You all mean the world to me and I appreciate the support! I want everyone to know that I am serious about becoming a better wrestler and to really do that, I need to focus on training. With that said, I am going to take a break from traveling with Smackdown to train in Louisville, Kentucky at the Ohio Valley Wrestling School. I am going to stay ther for as long as it takes to come back and kick some ass!!! I have one goal in sight and that is to grow at this craft that I have fallen in love with. Thank you so much to everyone who is supporting me. I promise I will make you proud! Remember to keep watching Smackdown on Friday nights at 8pm on UPN!!

It is said to be much more serious than Batista's similar injury. Kennedy tried to work through the injury but it was much too painful. He will have surgery later this week. It's too bad. Kennedy was getting a major push and was going up the ladder very quickly.

Kumiko Maekawa announces retirement
33 year old veteran All Japan Women wrestler Kumiko Maekawa announced
her retirement today. Her primary reason for retiring is she doesn't
like freelancing. That's what she has been doing since AJW closed last
spring. She had considered retiring last year but decided to stick
around and see what life is like after AJW. She didn't like it.
Maekawa was the final WWWA Singles Champ and it appears that she
intends to bring out the fabled red belt for her self produced
retirement show at Korakuen Hall on March 26. It was suggested that
Nanae Takahashi would be an appropriate opponent for her retirement
match but Maekawa isn't ready to announce that yet. Those two don't
like each other for real.

Today's physiotherapy
A funny thing happened on the way to Lyndhurst today. A Wheeltrans bus going from Variety Village to Lyndhurst broke down in the middle of Eglinton Ave. near Don Mills Rd. The bus I was on was running early so he stopped to pick up the passengers and drop us all off at Lyndhurst. William & I worked a lot today on my left shoulder blade. There's still a lot of weakness on my left side affecting my reach among other things. I told William that I know the weakness is there but it's invisible to most people. You can see I'm in a wheelchair. Obviously I'm more concerned about strengthening my legs & trunk as that will help me with walking. So I did some squats, worked on a portable staircase and walked with the parallel bars. My knees are still pretty bad. It went pretty well and I will return to Lyndhurst on Tuesday.

Visit to the doctor
I went to see my family doctor Dr. Pliamm today mainly to get new prescriptions for my medications. Everything went OK and she was very happy with the blood work I had done a couple of weeks ago. I will probably switch doctors in the near future. It's too far a trip and I'd like to get a doctor within rolling distance. She gave me a website to go to to help me do that and I could probably use the Yellow Pages website to do that as well. I'll start doing that next week.
Batista not taking time off for injury
It is being reported that Batista has decided not to take time off to recover from his injury. Orton was supposed to get the belt last week but Batista told the WWE that he appreciates everything the WWE has done for him and he wants to stay on the road. So he's keeping the belt. It's a very bad decision on his part particularly with the recent press coverage and concern about the health of the wrestlers. The WWE should not allow this and just pull him off the road but it's the same mindset they've had in the past where they aren't thinking about Batista's health first. When are they going to learn that a guy's spot isn't the most important thing?
Controversial segment on last night's Smackdown special
There's been quite a storm of overreaction to a segment on last night's Smackdown special featuring Big Show vs Rey Misterio Jr. Some folks are lambasting the WWE for exploiting Eddie Guerrero's death. I guess they must think that the WWE should never mention Eddie again. It started out OK with Rey paying tribute to Eddie by coming to the ring in a low rider. Some people didn't like the use of the car during the match. It was there so of course they were going to use it. And Big Show spit on the car. That seemed like an adlib to me. The segment went in the toilet at the end with the Kane & Undertaker runin and then really went overboard into surreal territory when Randy Orton burned up the Undertaker and the car. This was all done to set up an Orton/Undertaker Hell In a Cell match at the next PPV. It was very stupid and was done in a very ham handed way. Typically, some fans have reacted to this segment with righeous indignation. They seem to do this every time the WWE does a borderline offensive segment. I didn't like the segment either but to react to it like it's the worst thing the WWE has ever done is just ridiculous because they've done much worse. You can be sure that the WWE will do something else in the near future to illicit the same reaction. Why does this surprise or shock amyone?

It was very wet here today but it had stopped raining by the time I went to Lyndhurst for physiotherapy. My wheelchair guy Rich needed me to sign a couple of papers. I did a lot of leg lifts, standing exercises and walking with the parallel bars. I'm going to see my family doctor tomorrow mainly to get new prescriptions and then back to Lyndhurst for more physiotherapy on Thursday. I have to kieep working at it.

LLPW goes comedy route
You might be asking what it takes these days to get any media coverage for a joshi fed. 962 fans turned up at LLPW's Nov. 24 show at Tokyo Budokan to find out. A comedian named Nishiguchi provided most of the entertainment on the show. The wrestling was besides the point. The opener had The Bloody over Hiroyo Muto in 7:58. Then Eiger & Sayuri Okino defeated Harley Saito & Obacchi Iizuka in 11:28. Next came the comedians. Nishiguchi and Toshino are regulars on the Nippon Television Network. They basically had a comedy wrestling match with Nishiguchi as Little Antonio Inoki and Toshino as a girl wrestler. Who won? I dunno. I suppose the audience did if they thought it was funny. I'm not sure it did much for the joshi business or LLPW. The main event also featured the comedians. Dump Matsumoto, ZAP-T & The Scorpion (Nishiguchi) defeated Takako Inoue, Noriyo Tateno & Toshino in 13:28 on a fast three count by everyone's favourite heel ref Shiro Abe. Maybe LLPW should bring back their transvestite wrestlers and put them in a match with the comedians. Well, maybe not.
GIRLS DOOR debut show
A funny thing happened on the way to the GIRLS DOOR debut show at Shinjuku FACE on Nov. 23. Ayumi Kurihara was supposed to team with Ayako Hamada in the main event. Kurihara pulled out the day before the show. She was replaced by a wrestler that I don't recognize. I think she may be one of Kaoru Ito's trainees. There were also a lot more goofy masked wrestlers than I'm used to seeing on the average joshi show. I have an idea who a couple of them might be but it looks like GIRLS DOOR had some difficulty getting some wrestlers to appear for them. The opening match had Mariko Yoshida defeating Ayako Sato in 8:58. Sato is a Kaoru Ito trainee making her re-debut on this show. The next match was a three way match featuring idol wrestlers. The winner gets to sing a song of her choice. Shinohara won over Yokoze & Mayumi Hashiba and proceeded to sing her song. However, it's unlikely that any of them will win any awards for their ring skills. Then Bullfight Sora defeated Megumi Yabushita in 9:50. Next was the ongoing retirement tour of The Bloody & Fang Suzuki. Their opponents were masked wrestlers in housemaid outfits known as the Super Housemaids. I kid you not. I saw a picture of them and considering who was on the show, I suspect it was Kaoru Ito & Tomoko Watanabe under the masks. The Bloody & Fang Suzuki won in 9:48. Kumiko Maekawa defeated another masked wrestler called Do Monar in 1:56 and then proceeded to attack one of the promotion managers with a chair. The main event had Kaoru Ito & Tomoko Watanabe over & Ayako Hamada and her unfortunate partner in 19:20. It looks like a rocky start for GIRLS DOOR. They haven't announced their next show yet.

The WWE pushing lesbian angle
Anyone who watched last week's RAW saw the kiss between Candace Michelle & Victoria. It appears the WWE plans to turn this into an angle. There is a graphic on Candace Michelle's page labelled "The Kiss". Click on it and you get a video of the kiss. They obviously have to push Candace as her Playboy is coming in April but she's really not qualified to do anything physical in the ring. They're going to have to try and keep up any angle they do with her for several months. This could get stale very soon.

Today's physiotherapy
I finally got over to Lyndhurst for physiotherapy. I got there a little late because Wheeltrans scheduled my pickup way too late and the driver was late. They said that I should tell them I want to get there at 3:30 instead of 4PM. So I'm supposed to read their minds and prevent them from being stupid. It's also clear that pre-booking is a waste of time as it seems you have to call them the day before to be sure they actually schedule the ride properly. I was discussiing this with Josh when I was at the hospital and that's what he suggested. They don't seem too swift over there.
So today we worked on some standing up straight, very difficult because my knees don't want to cooperate. We worked with a medicine ball for the first time and walked with the parallel bars again. William seems to think that the K-Walker is too short for me. What else is new? God help you if you're taller than average height in the medical system. Nothing fits. That's why I can't wait to get my new custom made power chair.
My pal Stuart is confined to bed again after getting a sore on his butt. This may have been caused by some difficulties they had with him when he went to Toronto Western yesterday for a CT scan. It seems they don't have portable lifts there and six people had to lift him from his chair to the CT scan bed. Ugh! You have to be very careful about your butt when confined to a wheelchair. People wonder why I'm always moving around in the chair. I'm trying to relieve pressure on my butt because if you have a problem, you could be bed ridden for weeks. That's not happening to me. Stuart says he's being discharged on Tuesday and will stay in a nursing home until his house is ready in February. The problem is he won't get proper care in a nursing home and Stuart still needs daily physiotherapy. I'll see if he's still there when I return to the hospital on Tuesday.
It looks like we got the rest of that snowstorm today. The traffic was pretty bad on the way home. It doesn't look too bad from the tenth floor but I may have a different opinion after I go outside tomorrow morning. But I don't expect to get stuck in the snow.

Lufisto has posted her diary of her IW*GP Japanese tour at http://www.lufisto.com/ and it wasn't Dark angel on that tour. It was American Angel AKA Sara Del Rey in a mask. She normally wears a mask in Mexico.
It snowed a little bit last night but not as much as predicted. I'll see how the power chair's traction is. Should be OK.

Final IW*GP show at Shinjuku FACE
The IW*GP tour returned to Tokyo's Shinjuku FACE for their final show of the tour. The opener was a handicap match with Asian Cougar vs Nattie Neidhart & Nikki T from California. The girls were the heels and Asian Cougar won over Nattie with a diving Senton. Then Ariel defeated LuFisto with three consecutive brain busters. Hometown favourites Jaguar Yokota & Dvil Masami were next vs Dark Angel & Nikki Roxx. Both have a lot of experience with the LLF in Mexico and I think Mikki holds the LLF International title. Angel & Nikki try to double team Jaguar but Devil's strength takes over and her power bomb finishes of Nikki Roxx. Brazo de Oro, Brazo de Plata & Amazing Kong defeated NOZAWA, MASADA & Amapola in 16:28 with Amazing Kong over Amapola & MASADA with the Amazing Press. Finally, El Gran Hamada, Aja Kong & Rebecca Knox defeated Brazo de Platina, Marcela & Rey Extreme; Aja over Marcela with a brain buster in 13:53. That's the end of this tour. There's been no indication that Shinma will do another one. The one wrestler who got really good reviews on the tour was Rebecca Knox. It's always difficult when the promoter is bringing different wrestlers in and out and a lot of them don't have the time to get to know each other.
Review of Tiger Jeet Singh Documentary
Last night I watched the documentary Tiger on CBC Newsworld. The film follows veteran wrestler Tiger Jeet Singh on a 2004 tour of Japan and tells his life story as well. At 60 years of age, Tiger Jeet Singh is still causing havoc and selling out shows in the rings of Japan.
His wrestling career started in the office of legendary Toronto wrestling promoter Frank Tunney. Tiger left the slumping wrestling business in the mid-60s but when business picked up, Tunney wanted him back. Clips are shown of Tiger Jeet Singh's 1971 cage match with The Sheik.
Then a funny thing happened. Tiger became a much bigger and more memorable star in Japan than he ever could have become here. It all started when Tiger slapped Antonio Inoki's wife after she insulted the way he dressed and the fued between Tiger & Inoki took off from there. They also showed clips from a 1990 tag team match where Tiger Jeet Singh teamed up with Antonio Inoki.
Meanwhile his wife was at home raising their children and built a business empire that started with a gift shop on Bloor St. West in Toronto and grew from there.
Tiger Jeet Singh is still going strong today. Clips were shown of a 2004 match of Tiger Jeet Singh vs Naoya Ogawa at a Nagoya, Japan Hustle show. Tiger is in tremendous shape for his age. His wife said Tiger has tried to retire but enjoys performing too much. Footage is also shown of Tiger Jeet Singh on the streets of Tokyo with his son (known as Tiger Ali Singh in the WWF), training and psyching himself up for the match and his unorthodox ring entrance. This is interspersed with from Tiger Jeet Singh's 60th birthday party.
The film includes comments from Tiger Jeet Singh's family, pro wrestling journalists Greg Oliver, Dan Lovransky & JImmy Suzuki and wrestlers George King, Steve Corino & Dan Bobish. Tiger is a must see film for any wrestling fan and a lot of those fans have probably never heard of Tiger Jeet Singh. He may be crazy in the ring but Tiger Jeet Singh comes across as a very humble man outside the ring.

Liberal MP wants to prevent 50 Cent from entering Canada
The following is courtesy of CBC Toronto. I'm not a rap fan or a 50 Cent fan but I hate it when our government idiots try to do things like this. It makes us look like hicks.
Ban 50 Cent, Liberal MP says
Last updated Nov 23 2005 12:29 PM EST CBC News
A Toronto-area member of Parliament is calling on his own government to block the American rap singer 50 Cent from entering Canada.
U.S. rapper 50 Cent (AP file photo) On Tuesday, Liberal MP Dan McTeague (Pickering-Scarborough East) asked Immigration Minister Joe Volpe to deny the singer entry for a Canadian tour scheduled to launch in Vancouver Dec. 3.
McTeague says 50 Cent promotes gun violence, a message he feels Torontonians in particular don't need to hear. A record 48 people have been shot to death in the city so far this year.
50 Cent, who was born Curtis Jackson in Queen's, N.Y., has a criminal record and would need a ministerial permit to enter Canada.
"I don't think people in Toronto or any urban centre need or want to hear Mr. Jackson's message right now," McTeague said. "I think it's time we send a message of our own to those who glorify violence that their gratuitous violence and movies are not welcome in our country.
"We need to do a better job at protecting Canadians from people whose message runs counter to all of our efforts of trying to curb gun violence."
Volpe's spokesperson said permits allowing those with criminal records to enter Canada are issued regularly.
"It's permission that's granted typically about 12,000 times a year," Steven Heckbert told the Canadian Press.
"Whether the minister or departmental officials make a decision about intervening or not, it's really not appropriate for us to be talking about it in a public forum," he said.
50 Cent's tour is scheduled to stop in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax and Saint John.

One of those days
Everything went wrong today. I couldn't get a ride to the hospital from Wheeltrans so I had to cancel physiotherapy. Then I'm trying to call Wheeltrans to cancel my return trip and my phone runs out of juice. Then the fire alarm in the building is set off. It was a false alarm. It's not like I could go anywhere anyway because the elevators shut down when the alarm goes off. I'm not sure what they would do if I had to leave the building.

Doctor visit today
I was at Lyndhurst today to see my doctor over there. Nothing much to it. Dr. Oshidari asked a few questions and that was about it. I'm going to see my family doctor Dr. Pliamm next week mainly for her to reissue my prescriptions. I'm planning to switch to a doctor closer to home in the near future. I just haven't got around to it yet.
The WWE institutes drug policy
The following is courtesy of PW Insider. If this is legit, this is long overdue. For those who don't know, Nick Dinsmore AKA Eugene was found unconscious last week in Birmingham, England, went to hospital, was suspended indefinitely and sent home to Louisville, KY to rehab. He was apparently addicted to somas.
In a video posted on WWE.com today, they showed a clip from the the meeting that Vince had earlier today with his wrestlers, telling them about the company's new drug policy. He said he wanted them to hear it from him first, before it leaked out elsewhere. He said that the policy would be implemented over the next few weeks. He said that they will be testing for "drugs of abuse" and abuse of prescription drugs, as well as growth enhancers and steroids. He said it will be a strict policy that will be handled by a third party agency, not done in-house by WWE. He added that it will cover all individuals under full time contracts with WWE. He asked for comments from the wrestlers and no one said a word. He said that there must be a million things going through their heads and there was laughter. He then said he doesn't have all the answers yet. He said that WWE was looking into implementing the program and wanted to tell the talent before word got out and they heard about it elsewhere. He said he doesn't have the policy with him but will have it in a few weeks. He asked the wrestlers for their input in it since it will be their policy. Someone (it sounded like Ric Flair) asked about the prescription drug usage. Vince said that the doctor would be able to check what prescriptions the wrestler is taking and by testing, would be able to tell if they were being abused. He said it was easy to see when too much of a drug has been taken. He added that the first step, if someone is caught abusing prescription drugs, would be to try and get the worker help. He said if there were not prescriptions involved in a failed test, he thought that would bring on "another set of ramifications". He added that the policy will be fair and "across the board for everybody". He added there would be no exceptions to it. He was asked if the testing would be random and Vince said yes. He said it would be "relatively frequent". He talked about the last testing they had (back in the early 90s) and said that the difference this time is that he will be the second person to know. The first people will be the tester and the performer. Vince added that people won't be able to say "Yeah Vince but...." if they are caught. Everything will be spelled out in black and white in the policy as to what will happen if someone tests positive. Someone then thanked Vince for telling them personally.

Stewart wins 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup championship
Tony Stewart knew that he had to finish in the top ten of today's NASCAR Nextel Cup finale at Homestead Miami Speedway to stay ahead of Jimmie Johnson, his closest competitor for the 2005 Nextel Cup championship. Carl Edwards in the #99 Office Depot Ford won the pole and was a potential threat at third place in the standings. The situation changed halfway through the race when Johnson blew a tire and hit the wall. He ended up in 40th place. So now Stewart has to finish in 20th place to win the championship no matter what Edwards does and Edwards was leading the race at that time. A late race caution sealed Edwards' fate as he took four tires on his pit stop when most of the leaders only took two. Edwards restarted in 12th place. The caution also clinched the championship for Stewart as he was dropping back and was going to be lapped. He restarted in 15th place on the lead lap. The finish had Greg Biffle in the #16 National Guard Ford winning the race over Mark Martin in the #6 Viagra Ford by half a car length. Edwards finished fourth and Biffle & Edwards tied for second in the points standings. The 2005 Nextel Cup championship is Tony Stewart's second title win. Congratulations to Tony Stewart, crew chief Greg Zipadelli, Joe Gibbs, JD Gibbs and everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing & sponsor Home Depot. Tony Stewart, you are da man. 2005 was a great year and we'll see you at Daytona in February.
Truex wins 2005 NASCAR Busch Series championship
Staurday wasn't looking like a very good day for Martin Truex Jr. to clinch his second NASCAR Busch Series championship. First, Truex crashed his #8 Bass Bro Shops Chevy on his qualifying run and had to start in the back of the field in a backup car. Then after coming up through the field early in the race, Truex had to make an unscheduled pit stop for loose lug nuts. This put him a lap down. Fortunately, Truex's luck took a turn for the better. He got his lap back and was able to finish in the top ten, which is what he needed to do to win the championship. If his bad luck had continued, Clint Bowyer could have won the championship in the #2 AC Delco Chevy as he finished in the top ten. But Truex perservered and won the 2005 NASCAR Busch Series championship. Congratulations. The race was won by pole sitter Ryan Newman in the #39 Alltel Dodge. He passed Greg Biffle in the #66 Royal Office Products Ford on the last restart to win the race.

Musgrave wins 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck championship
Veteran racer Ted Musgrave won the 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck championship this morning at Homestead Miami Speedway. The race was rained out last night and was held at 8:30AM this morning. David Reutimann in the #17 NTN Bearings Toyota owned by Darrell Waltrip won the pole but transmission problems had him drop out of the race early. Todd Bodine continued his hot streak in the #30 Germain Toyota owned by Don Arnold. He dominated the race and won his third race out of the last four. If Bodine drives that truck for the entire 2006 season, he should be a favourite to win the championship. Dennis Setzer finished 16th and Ted Musgrave finished 20th and that was good enough to give Musgrave & truck owner Jim Smith their first NASCAR championship. Congratulations ro them.
Ryan Newman won the pole in the #39 Alltel Dodge owned by Roger Penske in today's NASCAR Busch series finale. Championship leader Martin Truex Jr. crashed on his qualifying run and he will start in the back of the field. Clint Bowyer is second in the standings and he is starting in the top ten. Truex has to get to the front to clinch his second championship so it should be very interesting. The race is being shown in Canada on tape delay tonight on Rogers Sportsnet. They were showing poker this afternoon! Don't ask me why.
Championship contender Carl Edwards won the pole for tomorrow's Nextel Cup finale. Tony Stewart starts 20th & Jimmie Johnson starts 32nd. This race will be on NBC Sunday 3PM.

The Bloody & Fang Suzuki to retire on New Year's Eve
The Bloody & Fang Suzuki held a press conference Saturday to announce
details of their Dec. 31 retirement show at Shinjuku FACE. The main
event will be kind of a blast from the past tag match with LSD2005
rules. It will be The Bloody & Fang Suzuki vs Dynamite Kansai & Mayumi
Ozaki. Kansai & Ozaki were chosen because they were the top wrestlers
in JWP several years ago so it's kind of a JD vs JWP vibe and supposed
to recall the inter promotional wars of the 90s. The LSD rules match
was created at JD five years ago by Lioness Asuka. If I recall
correctly, the rules are most falls in a set time limit but I could be
confusing it with some other kind of match. So they're doing it as a
tribute to Asuka and she was at the press conference too and said she
appreciated the respect. The Bloody & Fang Suzuki have decided to
retire on New Year's Eve because no one has ever done it before. The
other wrestlers thought the pair were kidding when they announced it.
Others appearing on the show include Jaguar Yokota, who trained both
wrestlers, Kyoko Inoue, Hiroyo Muto, Manami Toyota, Chikayo Nagashima,
Megumi Yabushita, Mima Shimoda, GAMI, Yuki Miyazaki, Yoshiko Tamura,
Tanny Mouse, Toshie Uematsu, Nanae Takahashi, Obacchi Iizuka & Saki
Maemura. Lioness Asuka is producing the show.

The original Little Feat was one of the best bands of the 70s and the late Lowell George was a great composer and slide guitarist. The group became more mainstream after George died so stick with their early music.
It's gotten pretty cold here over the last couple of days and it was snowing when I looked out my window yesterday afternoon. It was just flurries so it's no big deal. Some folks in the neighbourhood have asked how I will get around in the snow. I don't know. These chairs are pretty durable so I don't see it as a big problem as long as I'm careful. I'll find out soon enough. This is Canada you know.

After surgery, when my Doctor removes all the masses and my ovaries, they will send it to pathology..Only THEN will they know the extent of my cancer [ apx 10 days later]. They said that chemo should begin about 4-6 wks after surgery. All of the other Vitals in my system are good, which they tell me is a very good sign and for me to continue swimming ..working out..and just doing whatever I've always done to be in such good health before finding out about these 'silent bummers ' that have invaded my body ! !
Those of you wondering what were my first signs..it was losing WAY too much hair everytime I brushed it during the day.. Second was loose bowels..Third was that it was hard to hold my stomach in ..WHICH is WHY I went in for a check up.. I mean, I've been doing 85 crunchies with 50 lb weights now three times a week for years..and for this to happen WAS WAY out of sync.
There you have it...I want you to know, I feel fine and would like to ask ALL of you [my friends] to PLEASE ADD and KEEP me in YOUR prayers along with Kay Noble ;-)

This is NASCAR Chamionship weekend
This weekend, all three national NASCAR series crown champions at the final weekend of the 2005 season at Homestead Miami Speedway. All three series have at least two guys contending for the respective championships.
It all starts tonight with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series. Leading is Ted Musgrave in the #1 Mopar Dodge owned by Jim Smith. In second is Dennis Setzer in the #46 Duramax Chevy owned by Morgan Dollar Motorsports. Setzer was leading the points race in midseason but has not done well recently and was overtaken by Musgrave. Setzer has to really turn it on and hope that Musgrave has problems. The race is on SPEED tonight at 8PM.
Tomorrow the Busch Series championship will be decided. Defending Busch Series champ Martin Truex Jr. in the #8 Bass Pro Shops Chevy owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. & Teresa Earnhardt is leading. In second is Clint Bowyer in the #2 AC Delco Chevy owned by Richard Childress. Truex got a good lead during the summer. Bowyer closed the gap but has been unable to catch Truex over the last month. Truex will win if he finishes in the top ten. Both guys are headed for Nextel Cup in 2006. Truex will drive the #1 Bass Pro Shops Chevy for Dale Earnhardt Inc. & Bowyer will drive the #07 Jack Daniels Chevy for Richard Childress. The race is on TNT in the US & Rogers Sportsnet in Canada at 3PM.
The big Nextel Cup finale is on Sunday. There are four cars with a mathematical chance of winning but only two have a realistic chance. Those are points leader Tony Stewart in the #20 Home Depot Chevy for Joe Gibbs Racing and Jimmie Johnson in the #48 Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse Chevy for Rick Hendrick. It's the battle of the big box home improvement retailers. Carl Edwards in the #99 Office Depot Ford & Greg Biffle in the #16 National Guard Ford, both owned by Jack Roush, have a mathematical chance. Stewart has yet to win a race in the ten race Chase but has finished consistently in the top ten of all the races except for Charlotte. If Tony finishes in the top ten on Sunday, he's the 2005 Nextel Cup champ. And he's my favourite driver too. The race will be on NBC Sunday at 3PM.

Trumpeter Clifford Brown isn't as well known as other jazz musicians of the 50s because he died at age 25 in a car accident. But he was one of the best players of the bebop era and his music still holds up very well today.

Physiotherapy for Thursday Nov. 17
I was at Lyndhurst today for physiotherapy. I ran into my pal Josh. He was waiting for Wheeltrans. We were roommates at Lyndhurst for over four months. He moved into his apartment a few days before I moved into mine. He's going to Lyndhurst for physiotherapy & occupational therapy three days a week. He's a quad so what he's trying to do is get more function in his hands so he can grip things better and do more for himself. He's made a lot of progress but like the rest of us he has a long way to go. Josh says he wants to go back to school to take journalism so I suggested that he should start a blog and practice writing. I hope he does that. I'm sure I'll run into him again.
So I did some assisted walking today with a walker and also parellel bars. It's difficult to stay straight up because my knees want to buckle all the time. I also did straight leg lifts. I prefer doing them lying down as they are more effective. If I'm doing them sitting up I tend to use my upper body to compensate for the weakness in my legs. When lying down, I'm using my trunk more which is what I need to do. Either way they sure take a lot out of me. William & I are still figuring out which exercises are more effective. I'll try anything but I'll say something if I don't think the exercise is working.
Afterwards I spent some time with Stuart, another former roommate. He's a quad too and he's had a rough time at Lyndhurst but is improving slowly. He and his wife are building a new house but he'll probably have to go somewhere else while waiting for the house to be built. This will probably happen in a couple of weeks. He was asking me about Ted, another former patient who went home a couple of weeks ago. So I phoned Ted and he was at his computer. He's doing pretty well and hopes to drive pretty soon. Stuart was very happy I called him. Of course Stuart lied and said he was feeling pretty good. We all laughed.
Then I had to wait a while. Wheeltrans screwed up. When I booked the trip yesterday, they told me the pickup was at 5:25PM. He gave me the wrong time and it should have been 6:25PM. If I had known that I wouldn't have accepted it and gone on standby and get a better pickup time. I won't sit around for 90 minutes. This is a problem because as a diabetic, I have to be careful that my blood sugar doesn't get too low. I could get dizzy and pass out. Fortunately, I always carry a snack for just such an occasion. I'll have to keep a close eye on Wheeltrans. I'm back at Lyndhurst on Monday for an appointment with Dr. Oshidari and then physiotherapy on Tuesday.

Why do they fight
Livedoor Sports conducted interviews with several of the young
wrestlers who appeared on the Breath show. The theme was "Why Do
They Fight?
MAI ICHII born March 21, 1980
When did you become interested in pro wrestling?
I didn't watch it when I was a girl but became interested after
going to an All Japan Women show on December 23, 2003. It was very
exciting. I met Sakura Emi and after some resistance, I agreed to
train with her for three months and debuted on March 16, 2004.
What are your future plans?
First, I would like to wrestle in Korakuen Hall. Then, my wrestler
friend Haruhi & I want to own our own company. We plan to take over
the world (laughing).
NATSUKI*HEAD born May 7, 1984
When did you become interested in pro wrestling?
I enjoyed watching NOAH and All Japan Women on TV when I was in
junior high. I went to an AJW show while in high school and was very
impressed with Momoe Nakanishi because of her small size. Then I
went to train at Animal Hamaguchi's gym after my second year in high
school.
How difficult was it?
I wasn't prepared for how painful wrestling would be. I left after
working for AJW for six months. After taking a part time job, I
returned to the Hamaguchi gym to train but not for wrestling.
How did you get back into wrestling?
I started to train with Mai Ichii and some of the Sakura Emi girls
and it was much different from AJW. I re-debuted in June and have
been wrestling steadily since then.
KYOKO KIMURA born March 19,1977
When did you become interested in pro wrestling?
I enjoyed watching All Japan on TV and went to train at FMW at age
15. Then I went to Mexico at age 16 to train. I was living in San
Diego and discovered that Hayabusa was training in Tijuana. I saw a
poster in a restaurant. So I hopped into a cab and went there. I
worked in the restaurant while training.
When did you return to Japan?
My parents wanted me to return to school but I didn't want to do
that. I wanted to wrestle. They were upset with me. Eventually I met
Shark Tsuchiya and she brought me to JWP.
NAHO WATANABE born Jan. 12, 1989
How was your pro wrestling debut in June?
I got to show what I could do so it was good.
Did you hear the crowd?
No. I was trying to concentrate on my match.
Are you practicing for the next Breath show?
I'm practicing for that and I'm getting ready for the Queen's Cup
amateur tournament in the spring. Plus I'm still going to high
school. I'm pretty busy.
ATSUKO EMOTO born Nov. 8,1978
Were you interested in pro wrestling as a child?
No. I would change the channel when it was on.
So how did you get interested in it?
I was running my dairy in Hokkaido. I was around 22 years old. I was
getting tired of the work and getting kicked by the cow. (Note:Now
we know why Bullfight Sora is a cow.) I saw Shinobu Kandori give a
lecture and decided to audition to be a pro wrestler. I thought I
was accepted but misunderstood. Then I joined ARSION. ARSION became
A To Z. They decided to put me under a mask and made me a cow as a
gag. Then I left A To Z and now I freelance.
BAMBI born Sept. 21
How did you get interested in pro wrestling?
I hated school and decided to be a pro wrestler at age 15. My
parents were against it but I overcame their objections. I was fat
when I was a child and decided that pro wrestling would be a good
way to shape up. I went to work at DDT which is much different from
other wrestling companies. After things kind of stagnated there, I
went to K-Dojo.

The young and old appear on Breath
Mariko Yoshida held her fourth Breath show on Sunday at Shinjuku FACE
in front of a sellout crown of 508. What was very unusual and got a
lot of media attention was the pro debut of 1990 65kg. world amateur
champ Akiko Nacni at age 38. She is a mother of three and wrestling
coach at Gold's Kids gym in Tokyo. She said the Crush Gals inspired
her to wrestle. Her kids were there along with several of her
students. Her opponent was a rookie called Yuna. Nacni had to win
three falls to win and did so in in 7:40. Leon defeated Mai Ichii in
12:59. Kaoru Ito & Shuu Shibuya defeated Mariko Yoshida & Bambi in
16:38. Yuka Shiina defeated aspiring Olympic wrestler Naho Watanabe in
11:13. Watanabe is a student of Nacni. Haruka Matsuo & Atsuko Emoto
defeated Kyoko Kimura & Natsuki*Head in 23:17. Several of the
wrestlers did individual interviews with Livedoor Sports and I'll
write about those separately.

Chigusa Nagayo puts on first show
On Friday, Chigusa Nagayo promoted her first show since closing GAEA
at Shijuku FACE attracting a sell out crowd of 500. Chigusa used the
money she made at her restaurant to stage the show. The show was
titled Marvels Night. There was very little advance promotion and
none of the matches were announced in advance. And the goofiest part
was that all the wrestlers and matches were in costume play. This is
not unprecedented as AJW would do that occasionally but it's still a
strange way to do a debut show. The show started with Aja Kong's
announcement that Nov. 11 is Dump Matsumoto's 45th birthday. Sonoko
Kato brought out a birthday cake and a stuffed Winnie The Pooh and
Dump started to cry with happiness. I wish I had been there to see
that. The first match had Chikayo Nagashima dressed as a schoolgirl
against Devil Masami dressed like somebody's mother. Chikayo was
accompanied by five real high school girls. Nagashima won in 6:42.
The second match had Candy 2 (Tomoko Watanabe) defeat some guy in a
mask in 9:26. Then Yokota MOE (Jaguar Yokota as a housemaid) over A-
BOY ( Carlos Amano dressed up as a man) in 8:21. Next was Manami
Toyota dressed as a character in a popular soap opera over Meiko
Satomura in a general's uniform in 9:54. Finally, an international
contest had Dynamite Kansai as an American & Ayako Hamada as a
Mexican (very funny) over Toshie Uematsu & Mayumi Ozaki in what I
think were food related costumes. Anyway, the show sounds very
strange but it did well. What will Chigusa do next?

Of course Karen Clark Sheard is from the legendary gospel group The Clark Sisters. She is truly one of the best singers in the world today with a four octave range and legit jazz chops. Physiotherapy update
Today I went to Lyndhurst Hospital to start the outpatient physiotherapy program. It's been raining all day and travelling by Wheeltrans in that kind of weather is always a thrill. UGH!William Hseieh is my physiotherapist. I think he's new there. Obviously the initial session was an assessment and we'll start in earnest on Thursday. So I'll be going every Tuesday & Thursday at 4PM. for the next three months. Let's see how it goes.
Guerrero cause of death announced
The following was posted today on wwe.com. Very sad but not surprising.
Vickie Guerrero speaks on Eddie's autopsy report Nov. 15, 2005
After the untimely passing of Eddie Guerrero, WWE and the entire sports-entertainment community is steel reeling from the devastating loss of a champion. The initial autopsy reports on Guerrero have come in. WWE.com spoke with Eddie’s widow, Vickie Guerrero, earlier today.
“It was heart failure. It was from his past – the drinking and the drug abuse. They found signs of heart disease. She (the examiner) said that the blood vessels were very worn and narrow, and that just showed all the abuse from the scheduling of work and his past. And Eddie just worked out like crazy all the time. It made his heart grow bigger and work harder and the vessels were getting smaller, and that’s what caused the heart failure. He went into a deep sleep. As soon as they saw his heart, they saw the lining of his heart already had the heart disease. There was no trauma, and Eddie hadn’t hurt himself in any way. It answered a lot of questions. I knew Eddie wasn’t feeling very good for the last week. He was home and kept saying he wasn’t feeling good and we thought it was just “road tired.” So we thought he just had to rest. It answered a lot of my questions, too, because he was just so exhausted. She said it was normal because the heart was working so hard. When he didn’t call me last night and the night before I knew it was for real, because he would call me every night. I miss his phone calls. I cried through the whole thing (last night). I loved his laugh. His laugh was the best. We just celebrated his four-year sobriety last Thursday. We just thought we had life by the handful. We thought we had it all figured out. He worked so hard to make a better life for us. I’m just overwhelmed by how people are coming out. It’s touched my heart a lot. Everybody was just in awe last night in how beautifully everything was put together. All my life was wrestling. All he did was take care of them and live for that. And I don’t know what to do now.”
Yahoo LAUNCHCAST song of the day
Artist:Sunshine Anderson
Song:Heard It All Before
Album:Your Woman
I really like this song and it was a fairly big hit in 2001. Sunshine is a great singer but I don't think there has been a follow up to this album.
