Anita Baker became a huge star in the mid 80s with a jazz/soul sound that was the complete opposite of the type of sound that normally is played on the radio. Anita is a tremendous vocalist very much influenced by the late great Dinah Washington. She also writes & produces most of her own material so like Aretha Franklin & Oleta Adams, she's a great musician too. Anita took a few years off to raise a family but returned last year with a new CD on Blue Note Records. It's great to have her back.
