AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Sondre Lerche

 Artist-Sondre Lerche

Song:Words and Music

Album:Heartbeat Radio

Norwegian singer songwriter Sondre Lerche has had modest success. But it hasn't been enough to keep him on a major label. He was born Sept. 5, 1982 in Bergen, Norway. The Norwegian band a-ha was his biggest influence. Lerche started writing songs and performing in clubs as a teen. He signed with Virgin Norway in 2000 and his debut album Faces Down was released in 2001. After the 2002 US release, Lerche opened for Beth Orton and Elvis Costello among others. He doesn't have a band. He performs solo. The album was highly acclaimed by Rolling Stone. But Virgin could never figure out how to sell him. The 2009 album Heartbeat Radio was on Rounder. Again it was highly acclaimed but it didn't sell. Since then Lerche has recorded for his own Mona label and for Norwegian labels where he does sell. Lerche moved to the US in 2005. He currently lives in Los Angeles. Lerche has also dabbled in film music and he was a mentor on the Norwegian version of The Voice. Here's Sondre Lerche performing Words and Music at The Triple Door in Seattle for Seattle radio station KEXP Sept. 29, 2009.
