Artist:Matt Nathanson
Song:Come On Get Higher
Album:Some Mad Hope
Singer songwriter Matt Nathanson is probably best known for the 2008 single Come On Get Higher which did particularly well on the Adult Contemporary chart. It's probably a song you have heard but you don't know the artist. He was born Mar. 28, 1973 in Lexington, MA. Nathanson moved to California to study literature at Pitzer College. He released his debut album Please in 1993 on Acrobat Records. Then he moved to San Francisco. He released four albums for Acrobat. Then he signed with Universal for the 2003 album Beneath These Fireworks. This should have been Nathanson's commercial breakthrough. But things didn't go well at Universal. It's not clear if they released him or he wanted to leave. But Nathanson left and signed with Vanguard Records for the 2007 album Some Mad Hope. His folk rock music was more suited to Vanguard. The single Come On Get Higher reached #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart and #59 on the Billboard Hot 100. It's his biggest hit to date. After a few more albums, Nathanson left Vanguard when it was purchased by Concord in 2015. Last week he released a new CD Sings His Sad Heart on his own label. Nathanson is touring to support the album. Here's the video for Come On Get Higher by Matt Nathanson.
