AccuRadio Song Of The Day-The Crystal Method

Artist:The Crystal Method
Song:Keep Hope Alive
Album:Vegas

The electronic music duo The Crystal Method are frequently described as American counterparts to The Chemical Brothers. And like The Chemical Brothers, most of The Crystal Method's success has been on the dance charts with singles like Keep Hope Alive. They are from Las Vegas. Ken Jordan was a local DJ and program director of the UNLV radio station. He taught Scott Kirkland to DJ and then they both moved to Los Angeles and formed The Crystal Method in 1993. They bought a home in Glendale that had an underground shelter. They turned it into a recording studio. British DJ Justin King discovered them and released the 1994 single Now Is The Time. Keep Hope Alive was released in 1995. While that single reached #14 on the Club chart, The Crystal Method worked on their debut album Vegas which was released in 1997 on Outpost Recordings. That album was eventually certified Platinum and the single Comin' Back topped the Club chart. That got them a deal with Geffen for the 1999 album Tweekend which included guest appearances by Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello and Stone Temple Pilots' Scott Weiland. Morello was featured on the single Name Of The Game which reached #5 on the Club chart. The 2004 CD Legion Of Boom was released on V2 featuring Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit and Kyuss lead singer John Garcia. Garcia was featured on the single Born Too Slow which reached #3 on the Club chart. The album was nominated for a Grammy. Then the Crystal Method started their own label Tiny E Records and they composed the theme for the TV series Bones and the score for the 2006 film London. They also released some music for Nike. They released the 2009 CD Divided By Night. The single Come Back Clean featuring Emily Haines of Metric reached #4 on the Club chart. They released an album in 2014. Jordan retired from music in 2017. But Kirkland released the CD The Trip Home July 2018 and The Crystal Method toured to support it. EDM fans already know about The Crystal Method. I don't know if I would recommend them to anyone else. Here's the video for Keep Hope Alive by The Crystal Method. You may recognize some of the actors in the video. It was directed by film actor and director Doug Liman.

  1. I heard them years ago and have them on my computer and in my flash drive that I use now in my car. I like their music. It's good and I like it for some reason.
