RENA, Erika Kamimura |
Today Shooto, RISE and SHOOT BOXING held a press conference to announce a joint charity show for Nov. 11. But RISE took the opportunity to have the contract signing ceremony for Erika Kamimura vs RENA for the RISE Queen Championship Nov. 23 at Tokyo Dome City Hall. They also unveiled the championship belt so you get to see that too. It looks pretty sweet. They announced the match a couple of weeks ago but Japanese companies like to do public contract signing ceremonies. The match is contracted for 48kg and scheduled for five three minute rounds with unlimited extension rounds if there is a draw. Their usual format is three two minute rounds. RENA normally fights at 52kg so hopefully making weight isn't an issue for her. RENA says she likes three minute rounds. She says she plans to make the most of this opportunity and grab the championship. RENA normally does SHOOT BOXING so she was asked about not doing the standing holds. She says she has come to Tokyo to train at the Caesar Gym to prepare for this match and they're working on that and other things. The Caesar Gym is the home of SHOOT BOXING owned by Takeshi Caesar. RENA normally trains at the Oikawa Gym in Osaka. RENA acknowledged that Erika has a lot of momentum but she plans to stop her. When asked about the length of the rounds, Erika said she doesn't care because she will knock RENA out anyway. When asked if she has seen RENA's most recent loss to Jessica Penne, Erika says she hasn't seen it but she knows what RENA can do. Erika can't wait for Nov. 23 to show she is the best.
