Ayaka Hamasaki to defend JEWELS Lightweight Championship vs Ham Seo Hee on Dec. 17

JEWELS held a press conference today to announce the main event of the Dec. 17 Shinjuku FACE show along with two other matches. Ayaka Hamasaki will defend her JEWELS Lightweight Championship against veteran Korean kickboxer Ham Seo Hee. Hamasaki beat Ham in last year's tournament final. Hamasaki trains at AACC and is Megumi Fujii's prize student. Her record is 5-0 and her last win was over MIZUKI on the Sept. 11 JEWELS show. Ham trains at CMA Korea. Her MMA record is 9-4 but she's probably one of the best female kickboxers in the world. Her last MMA win was over VV Mei at the July 9 JEWELS show and she also reached the final of SHOOT Boxing's S-Girls Cup in August. Are you a little underwhelmed by that match? You may recall that JEWELS matchmaker Shigeru Saeki planned to offer Yuka Tsuji a title shot. Unfortunately, Tsuji had minor surgery three weeks ago. She is expected to return early 2012. This title match is scheduled for three five minute rounds. In another Lightweight match, former VALKYRIE champ VV Mei will face Mika Nagano. VV Mei is freelance. Her record is 8-3 and her last fight was a loss to Ham Seo Hee at the July 9 JEWELS show. Nagano trains at Core. Her record is 8-5 and her last fight was a loss to Megumi Fujii on the July 9 JEWELS show. She also works as a pro wrestler for STARDOM. I think it's fair to say that both fighters really need a win. Neither has performed well in recent fights. VV Mei joked about Nagano's sex appeal and claimed that she bought Mika's DVD. In a Featherweight match, former VALKYRIE champ Yasuko Tamada will Face SACHI. Both lost in the first round of the Featherweight tournament. Tamada trains at AACC. Her record is 8-3-1 and her last fight was a loss to Kikuyo Ishikawa on the Sept. 11 JEWELS show. SACHI now trains with Yuka Tsuji at Angura. Her record is 8-6-1 and her last fight was a loss to Yukiko Seki on the Sept. 11 JEWELS show. Both fighters are veterans so it's somewhat surprising that they have never faced each other. Both fights are scheduled for two five minute rounds. Expect more matches to be announced in the coming weeks.
