Amanda Lucas, HARI |
So did you watch that Amanda Lucas vs Hikaru Shinohara match from the August DEEP show? Did you enjoy it? I didn't think so. It was a predictably bad match. The funniest thing was when Hikaru smacked her corner man after he threw in the towel. That was her only offensive move. But I'm not very surprised that DEEP matchmaker and notorious snake in the grass Shigeru Saeki is bringing Amanda back for the Oct. 29 Differ Ariake show. Her opponent will be the veteran punching bag HARI. In their press release, DEEP talks about her experience. And she's been around a long time. She started out as a pro wrestler in 1998 and lost to Marloes Coenen on the 2000 World Remix tournament. But her record is 6-24-1 and she hasn't won since 2007. And who did she beat? She beat the overstuffed fringe pro wrestler Yuiga. HARI is a terrible fighter. It's also a size mismatch. DEEP didn't announce a contracted weight. But Amanda missed weight for the Shinohara fight which was at 155lb. It was the first time she ever tried to make that weight. HARI normally fights anywhere from 135 to 145. Does it matter? Look, we all know that Saeki is using Amanda because she is the daughter of George Lucas. The media interest in her is based solely on that. They wouldn't care if she was someone else's daughter. She's a celebrity fueled gimmick. I understand that fighters want to fight. But sometimes a fighter needs to take responsibility for the opponents she agrees to fight especially when the fight is an obvious mismatch. I'll give her a pass for the first fight but not for this one. Anyone who believes that Amanda Lucas is being used by Saeki as anything other than a celebrity driven sideshow is dreaming in technicolor. And that includes Amanda Lucas herself.
