AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Marc Kudisch

Artist:Marc Kudisch

Song:Honestly Sincere

Album:Bye Bye Birdie: The New Soundtrack Recording

Marc Kudisch is a three time Tony nominated Broadway performer probably best known for starring as Conrad Birdie in this 1995 ABC TV adaptation of the Broadway musical Bye Bye Birdie. Kudisch is currently on Broadway and he's done lots of TV. He was born Sept. 22, 1966 in Hackensack, NJ but he grew up in Plantation, FL. After earning a theater degree at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Kudisch moved to New York and was cast as Conrad Birdie in a 1990 touring company of the Broadway musical Bye Bye Birdie. His co-stars included Tommy Tune and Ann Reinking. TV producer Robert Halmi Sr. decided to turn it into a TV movie starring Jason Alexander and Vanessa Williams. Gene Saks directed from a screenplay by Michael Stewart. The songs were written by Charles Strouse and Lee Adams. The show won an Emmy for Outstanding Music and Lyrics for Miniseries or Special and nominated for two others. The soundtrack album is available on CD. Since then Kudisch has appeared in plenty of Broadway musicals. His three Tony nominations were for the 2002 revival of Thoroughly Modern Millie, the 2005 adaptation of the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the 2009 adaptation of the film 9 to 5. Most recently he appeared in the musical Floyd Collins which ran for two months and closed on Friday. On TV Kudisch has done mostly guest shots. But he was a regular on As the World Turns (2006-08), House of Cards (2015-18) and Billions (2017-19). Kudisch is married to dancer and choreographer Shannon Lewis and they produced a 2016 production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He directed and she choreographed. But I guess Conrad Birdie is still Kudisch's most memorable role. Here's is Marc Kudisch performing Honestly Sincere from the 1995 TV movie Bye Bye Birdie.
