Gospel music fans are going to want to check out singer songwriter Maranda Curtis. She was awarded the BMI Trailblazers of Gospel award in 2020 when Nobody Like You Lord was one of the 20 most performed gospel songs in the US. Her music is a blend of traditional and contemporary gospel. She was born Aug. 4, 1979 in Miami. Her parents were R&B singers and her father is a pastor. She grew up singing in church and also listened to R&B and jazz. Maranda married Pastor Jamal Willis in 2010 and became a worship leader at The Potter's House Church in Dallas. She released her debut single in 2012 as Maranda Curtis Willis. After she divorced Willis in 2016, Maranda left The Potter's House and started her own label with distribution by Fair Trade Services and Sony. She released her EP The Maranda Experience Vol. 1 in 2017. She says the title means she is making her private worship public and sharing her experience. Then she released the 2018 album Open Heaven: The Maranda Experience Live. Nobody Like You Lord was the breakout song from that album. The album was recorded live at the Faith City Family Church in Newark, DE. Maranda writes and produces everything. Her co-producer is Dana Sorey who also produces Bryan Courtney Wilson. She has appeared on Wilson's albums. She wrote Nobody Like You Lord with Antony Rachel. The album topped Billboard's Gospel chart and remained on the chart for 35 weeks. She was nominated for several Stellar awards. Maranda released a Christmas EP in 2018 followed by another live EP in 2020. Her latest album Die to Live was released in 2022. A lot of the album is about her mom's recent death. Her co-producer is Justin Savage formerly of Anthony Brown & Group TherAPY. He plays keyboards in Maranda's band. Maranda also appeared on Kirk Franklin's 2023 album Father's Day. Gospel music fans should check her out. Here's the video for Nobody Like You Lord by Maranda Curtis.
