Here's the fight video of Valentina Shevchenko defending the UFC Flyweight Championship vs Manon Fiorot from last night's UFC show in Montreal. Valentina had just come off this series of matches against Alexa Grasso. She made a stupid mistake and lost the first match. The second fight was a draw because of a terrible Mike Bell scorecard. He should have been fired but judges aren't accountable in Nevada. She finally took care of business in the third fight and then she tried to avoid fighting Manon because there's more money in a Zhang Weili superfight. The UFC thought Manon had been kept waiting long enough. Manon had gone 7-0 in the UFC. She looked like a killer but in last night's fight, she simply wasn't the same fighter. The aggression that we had seen previously was gone. Sometimes I think fighters think too much and it affects performance negatively. So what we got was a blah points fight. Very disappointing. The fight was close enough that if Manon had shown any kind of aggression, she could have won easily. Instead, all three judges scored it 48-47 for Valentina. I scored it 48-47 for Manon. And the judges could have scored it that way too. There was nothing definitive about the result. A different score on one scorecard would have changed the result. That's how close it was. Call this Manon Fiorot's missed opportunity. Enjoy the video!
