AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Keith Washington

Artist:Keith Washington

Song:Kissing You

Album:Make Time for Love

R&B singer songwriter Keith Washington topped the R&B Singles chart with his 1991 debut single Kissing You. He was nominated for a Grammy and a Soul Train award. Subsequent singles did not do as well and Washington was active as a songwriter and producer. He was born Nov. 15, 1960 in Detroit. After co-writing the 1988 Freddie Jackson #1 R&B hit Hey Lover, Washington got a record deal with Qwest Records owned by Quincy Jones and distributed by Warner Bros. Kissing You is from Washington's 1991 debut album Make Time for Love. It topped the R&B Singles chart and reached #40 on the Billboard Hot 100 because it was used on the ABC daytime soap General Hospital. Those soap fans love their music. Washington wrote Kissing You with Rodney Shelton and Marsha Jenkins. It was the biggest hit for all three. Washington produced with General Caine guitarist Trey Stone. He also played guitar on the record. Washington wrote and produced the album with various producers including Barry Eastmond. Not surprisingly, Kissing You was a fluke hit because it was on General Hospital. Those are very difficult to repeat. And none of Washington's singles did very well. The Album is available on CD. Washington's 1993 album You Make It Easy didn't sell and Washington left Qwest. Washington returned in 1999 with the album KW on MCA's Silas label owned by Louis Silas Jr. Silas produced along with Fred Jerkins III but it didn't sell. Washington continued to write and produce. He released a single in 2012 but the promised album never came out. Washington has done some acting. And he has been a radio DJ in Detroit. Based on his Facebook page, he does a lot of concert appearances with R&B one hit wonders like Glenn Jones and Karyn White. There's always a market for nostalgia acts. Here's the video for Kissing You by Keith Washington.
