Artist:The Henry Girls
Song:Sweet Dreams
Album:December Moon
The Henry Girls is an Irish folk group. Unlike many Irish folk groups, they perform mostly original songs. The Henry Girls are sisters Karen, Lorna and Joleen McLaughlin. They named the group after their grandfather. After self releasing a couple of albums, they signed with the German label Beste! Unterhaltung. Sweet Dreams is from the 2011 album December Moon. They wrote most of the songs including Sweet Dreams. Karen sings lead and plays piano. Joleen plays harp. Lorna plays accordion. And they sing in harmony. Other musicians are Denise Boyle on viola, Ted Ponsonby on dobro, Nicky Scott on bass and Liam Bradley on drums. The album was produced by Scottish producer Calum Malcolm who has worked with similar groups like Capercaillie and Clannad. The Henry Girls released their latest album in 2024. They toured North America for the first time in November. This CD is available on Amazon. But I sure would like to see a US label like Compass pick them up for better distribution. Here's The Henry Girls performing Sweet Dreams at The Playhouse in Derry, Ireland Feb. 2012.
