Artist:Adrian Legg
Song:The Irish Girl
Album:Guitars & Other Cathedrals
British acoustic guitarist Adrian Legg is greatly admired for his technique by guitar geeks. He's been around since the 70s but he became really popular with guitar geeks when his albums were available in the US in the 90s. He was born May 16, 1948 in Hackney, London, England. He started playing guitar as a teen. In the early 70s, he won composition and performance sections of a Guitar Magazine competition. They asked him to start writing for them. He was a bench technician customizing guitars As you will see in the video, he builds his own guitars. He wrote a 1981 book Customizing Your Electric Guitar. He designs guitars and amplification systems. After releasing a few albums in England, Legg signed a US record deal with Relativity Records. The 1990 album Guitars & Other Cathedrals was his first album. He mostly writes all his songs and only performs solo. Legg has appeared at the Montreux Jazz Festival and he has toured with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. At one point, he recorded for Vai's record label Favored Nations. In recent years he has recorded for his own label, most recently in 2017. He also produces instructional videos. As I said, there is a subset of music fans who go for stuff like this. I call them guitar geeks. Guys like Legg have been able to make a living this way. I call it a cottage industry. Here's Adrian Legg performing The Irish Girl at Camp St. Cafe in Crockett, TX 2008.
