AccuRadio Song Of The Day-The Acorn

Artist:The Acorn

Song:Restoration

Album:No Ghost

The Canadian band The Acorn is another solo act turned into a band mainly to play live. They had modest success as an indie band. They don't seem to be currently active. The Acorn is from Ottawa. Rolf-Carlos Klausener first started The Acorn as a home recording project. Then he turned it into a band by adding Howie Tsui on guitar, Jeff Debutte on bass and Jeffrey Malecki on drums. They released the 2005 album The Pink Ghosts on Kelp Records. They toured and released Live At Royal Albert Hall in 2006. They signed with Paper Bag Records and released the 2007 album Glory Hope Mountain which was about Klausener's Honduras born mother. This album seemed to reach a larger audience and was nominated for a Polaris Music Prize. Restoration was first released as an EP and then on the 2010 album No Ghost. Paper Bag signed an international distribution deal with the British label Bella Union. As with all of The Acorn's albums, Klausener wrote and produced everything. By the time the 2015 album Vieux Loup was released, Klausener may have been tired of The Acorn and decided to end the band. They last performed in 2017. Klausener is currently creative director of the Ottawa music festival Bon-Fire. He doesn't seem to be interested in reforming The Acorn. Here's the video for Restoration by The Acorn.
