Here's the match video of Io Shirai defending her NXT Women's Championship against Candice Lerae from last night's Takeover show. These two had a great match last year. The big difference is that Candice is now a heel taking shortcuts with the help of her husband Johnny Gargano. Io wrestles the same whether she is a heel or babyface. She is very precise in her movement. It's a great match well worth watching. Not surprisingly, Gargano interferes at the end. The ref gets knocked out and Candice lays out Io. Gargano comes out wearing a ref's shirt like Bayley did at Extreme Rules. We all know what happened there. Io kicks out of a fast count. Gargano grabs the championship belt and gives it to Candice. While the ref throws Gargano out, Candice hits Io with the belt. Io kicks out again. And after a Spanish Fly, Io hits her moonsault for the win. Afterwards, Toni Storm appears on the videotron and then Ember Moon returns from injury. It looks like Io will have a full dance card. Of course Io knows Toni very well and has wrestled her many times. But I did a quick search and Io gas never crossed paths with Ember though Ember is close friends with Asuka so Io can ask her. We'll see what happens with the draft this week. Enjoy the video!
