Bride is a hard rock CCM band similar to Petra. With changing musical tastes, they became a grunge band in the 90s. Bride went through many members and several record companies. It's hard to be successful when there is no stability. They were called Matrix when they were formed in Louisville, KY by brothers Dale and Troy Thompson. Dale sings lead and writes the songs. Troy plays guitar. They recorded demos and sold cassettes at shows. After opening for The Daniel Band in 1986, they signed with the Refuge Records label Pure Metal and changed their name to Bride which is a bible reference. After three albums they signed with Star Song for the 1991 album Kinetic Faith. Band members at the time were Rick Foley on bass and Jerry McBroom on drums. Foley was replaced by Steve Curtsinger in 1995. In 1992 Dale Thompson was supposed to replace Stryper lead singer Michael Sweet. But it didn't happen and Bride released three albums on Star Song and then the 1995 album Drop for Rugged Records. It was at this point that Bride changed to a grunge influenced alt rock sound. They were working with producer John Elefante and his brother Dino. Elefante was a lead singer of Kansas turned CCM artist and producer. He produced Petra. Elefante took Bride to Organic Records. The Worm is from the 1997 album The Jesus Experience. The album did OK but Bride had creative differences and left Organic. Also, McBroom and Curtsinger were replaced for the 2001 album Fist Full of Bees for Absolute Records. The Nu Metal and Rapcore of this album alienated their fanbase. They returned to a rock sound for the 2003 album This Is It. And then they signed with Retroactive Records for the 2006 album Skin for Skin and to re-release Bride's back catalog. After three albums, Dale Thompson announced that Bride would retire and he moved to New Zealand. That was in 2013. Though Bride reformed for a 2018 album, Thompson has been working with several bands in New Zealand. Here's the video of The Worm by Bride.
