AccuRadio Song Of The Day-*NSYNC

Artist:*NSYNC

Song:Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays

Album:Home for Christmas

Anyone familiar with this blog will know that I start looking at Christmas music in October. So here's my first Christmas song of the 2020 season. It could be the last because the music plays at random. This album was probably the biggest seller of the 1998 Christmas season. *NSYNC had become one of the hottest acts in music after appearing on The Disney Channel in July. So it's not surprising that crook Lou Pearlman wanted *NSYNC to record a Christmas album. Strike when the iron is hot. They actually recorded two Christmas albums. Home for Christmas was released Nov. 10, 1998. The album reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 200. It was certified 2XPlatinum. That's really good for a Christmas album. The Winter Album was released Nov. 17, 1998 but in Germany only. It was *NSYNC's thank you to Germany for supporting *NSYNC before they were successful elsewhere. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a couple of other songs are on both albums. But the albums are different and available so I assume completists would want both. German producer Veit Renn produced about half of the album including Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays. And he also wrote that song with Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez and they sing lead on the record. *NSYNC do a couple of Christmas standards but the album looks to be mostly original material. Of course soon after this *NSYNC sued Pearlman for fraud and we all know how that ended. Here's the video for Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays by *NSYNC with a guest appearance by Gary Coleman.
