AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Lisa Stansfield

Artist:Lisa Stansfield
Song:All Around The World
Album:Biography: The Greatest Hits

The 1989 single All Around The World was a global smash hit for blue eyed soul singer Lisa Stansfield. She's still successful in her native England but most fans will know the one song. She was born Apr. 11, 1966 in Manchester, England. Her main influence is Barry White. She released a single after winning a 1980 singing competition. Then she signed with Polydor. She released an album that went nowhere. In 1984 Lisa formed Blue Zone with schoolmates Ian Devaney and Andy Morris. They signed with Rockin' Horse Records which was sold to Arista. They recorded an album in 1986. But Arista kept delaying the release. Big Thing was finally released in 1988. The single Jackie reached #54 on the Billboard Hot 100. Then Lisa sang lead on the Coldcut single People Hold On. When that became a dance hit, Arista signed Lisa to a solo deal. She was still working with Devaney and Morris. It's just that now they concentrated on Lisa as a solo artist. The single All Around The World was a worldwide chart topper and it reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The 1989 album Affection was certified Platinum. Though Lisa continued to have success in England and on the dance charts, All Around The World is her only big hit and signature song. Lisa recorded a duet of All Around The World with Barry White in 1992. That and the original version are on this budget comp. Lisa recorded five albums for Arista but she was never able to repeat the success of All Around The World. She still records and tours. She and Devaney got married in 1998 so they still work together. She is currently signed to the German label Edel and her 2018 CD Deeper was released on their earMUSIC label. Here's the video for All Around The World by Lisa Stansfield.
