Brian Charette is a master of the Hammond B3 organ. He has recorded as a leader since 2000 and works frequently as a sideman and session musician. He also teaches and wrote an instruction book. He was born in 1972 in Meridian, CT. As a teen, Charette played with Lou Donaldson and Houston Person. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in piano at the University of Connecticut, Charette moved to Prague, Czech Republic. While there he had a band called SoulMates and he still works frequently with sax player Ondrej Stveracek. And he's on the faculty of Jaroslav Jezek Conservatory. Charette records for the Danish label Steeplechase and the US label Posi-Tone. Still Standing is from the 2014 album Good Tipper on  Posi-Tone. Though the album is mostly covers, Still Standing is an original composition. Musicians are Avi Rothbard on guitar who usually is in Pete Zimmer's band and Jordan Young on drums. He tours with Charette. Charette's latest CD Groovin' With Big G was released in 2017 and features legendary sax player George Coleman and his drummer son George Coleman Jr. You can get Charette's book Hammond B3 Tips on his website. And he posts instructional videos on Youtube. Charette lives in New York but he still travels frequently to Prague and he tours as well.
