AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Woods

Artist:Woods
Song:Cali In A Cup
Album:Bend Beyond

Fans of California style folk rock may want to check out the indie band Woods. I would describe their music as folk rock with psychedelic overtones. They didn't start out as a band. And they aren't from California. Jeremy Earl of Meneguar started Woods as a home recording project. He's from Brooklyn, NY. In 2005, he released a Woods cassette that got enough buzz that Earl started releasing CDs on his Woodsist label. With the 2008 album Woods Family Creeps, he started turning Woods into a band starting with fellow Meneguar member Jarvis Taveniere. Woods was exposed to a much wider audience when the music website Pitchfork named their 2009 album Songs of Shame as Best New Music. Now it's a full five piece band still led by Earl and Taveniere. Cali In A Cup is from the 2012 CD Bend Beyond. It's heavily influenced by 60s folk rock and psychedelia. Woods' latest CD Love Is Love was released last year. They are currently on a Japanese tour. When Earl started Woods, I doubt he expected it to leave his bedroom. And now it's a full time band touring internationally. That's the music business for you. Here's the video for Cali In A Cup by Woods.
