AccuRadio Song Of The Day-The Used

Artist:The Used
Song:The Taste Of Ink
Album:The Used

The Used is an alternative rock band who have had success mostly as an album and touring band. They had their greatest success with the 2002 debut CD The Used on Reprise Records. The term used to describe this band is "screamo", an "emo" band with screaming vocals. The Used are from Orem, UT. Bassist Jeph Howard, drummer Branden Steineckert and guitarist Quinn Allman formed the band Dumb Luck in 2001. But they needed a lead singer. They knew Bert McCracken from a previous band so they asked him to join. Apparently they held a lot of auditions and they were getting desperate. The band name was changed to The Used. They recorded demos and Goldfinger lead singer John Feldmann agreed to help them get a record deal. They signed with Reprise Records. Feldmann produced the 2002 CD The Used. The album was certified Gold mostly on the strength of their live shows though they did get radio play on alternative rock radio. This is probably the album to get by The Used. An expensive Japanese import is available on CD but you can also get it as a digital download. Next they released the CD/DVD Maybe Memories. This was an album of unreleased tracks. in 2006, Steineckert was replaced by Dan Whitesides. Steineckert joined Rancid. After releasing the live CD/DVD Berth, The Used finally released the 2007 CD Lies for the Liars. The album did not do as well as the first album probably because of the time gap. If you take too long to release an album, fans forget about you. After the 2009 album Artwork, The Used left Reprise. They started their own label through Restless Records. Their latest album The Canyon was released in 2017. They will tour Europe in August. Allman was replaced by Justin Shekoski in 2015 who was recently replaced by Joey Bradford. The Used never had mainstream success but they have been successful enough on their own terms to continue recording and touring. Here's the video for The Taste Of Ink by The Used.
