Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

Poster for Sept. 22 JEWELS show reveals plenty of filler
With the Sept. 22 JEWELS show at Shin-kiba 1st Ring approaching, they announced plenty of filler matches. But I was waiting to see what the main event of the show would be. Now that I have seen the show poster, there is no main event for this show. Look, Mika Nagano and Shizuka Sugiyama are very pretty girls. But neither are great fighters and they shouldn't be front and centre on any poster. It's a damn joke. So far, JEWELS has announced three MMA matches for this show and the rest is crappy kickboxing filler that several Japanese fans have told me they don't want to see on a JEWELS show. JEWELS owner Yuichi Ozono is well aware of the complaints but ignores them because he's a blockhead. Of course he's probably broke and can't do any better. So I guess the main event of this show is Mika Nagano vs Tomo Maesawa. Nagano trains at Core and her record is 9-7. Her last fight was a win over anna on the May 26 JEWELS show. anna is one of the worst fighters in Japan. Because of her looks, Nagano still has some marketing value. But she shouldn't be in a main event. Maesawa is making her MMA debut but they say she has nine years of amateur jiu jitsu experience. She trains at Paraestra Hachine One. She doesn't belong here. Happy Fukuko will face Satomi Takano. Fukuko trains at Cobra Kai in Osaka and her record is 7-7. Her last fight was a loss to Naoko Omuro at the Apr. 1 PANCRASE. She's been around since 2005 but this will be her JEWELS debut. Her last four fights were for PANCRASE in her home town of Osaka. She is also known for wearing goofy leotards. Takano trains at Club Barbarian in Yoyama, a dojo with a long history of producing good female fighters. She won her debut over Yukiko Seki at the July 21 JEWELS show. The other MMA match is Shizuka Sugiyama vs Yurika Tanaka. Sugiyama trains at Zendokai in Yokohama. Her record is 7-3 and she returned to JEWELS after a year in Australia with a split decision win over Megumi Yabushita on the July 21 JEWELS show. When she started in 2009, she won her first five fights and got a big push because of her looks. But she started losing and she looked like she didn't want to be a fighter anymore. So she left and now she's back but the jury is still out. Tanaka is making her MMA debut. She trains at Kame Gym. What if she beats Sugiyama? That's it for MMA. The rest of the show is kickboxing filler.
