Monica Lovato and her tattoo |
PANCRASE held an open workout today at the Harajuku Gold's Gym to introduce New Mexico's Monica Lovato to the Japanese media. Monica will face WINDY Tomomi on Sunday's Differ Ariake show. Of course Monica is a championship boxer who switched to MMA in 2008 mainly because she ran out of competition. Her boxing record was 11-1 and she was the #1 ranked WBC Female Bantamweight. Since moving to MMA, she is 5-1 mostly working for King Of The Cage. Monica says that she would have remained in boxing except that once she became NABF Super Flyweight Champ, every scheduled match seemed to fall through. And though Monica has trained extensively in MMA, she says boxing is still her backbone and she's looking for a KO this Sunday. After some shadow boxing and jumping rope, She said she is very happy to fight for PANCRASE in her first foreign appearance. She thanked her trainers at FIT in New Mexico and her sponsors. She watched some PANCRASE online and is honoured to fight for one of the world's leading MMA companies. She watched WINDY Tomomi on video as well and says she looks very tough. WINDY's strength is kickboxing so I expect this to be a standup war. A knockout ending would not be surprising. Monica jokingly says that since PANCRASE's male champ is called King Of PANCRASE, she wants to be the Queen Of PANCRASE. She showed off the kanji tattoo on her forearm which says "passion" which is appropriate as Sunday's show is called PANCRASE 2010 PASSION TOUR.
