The idea behind the JEWELS ROUGH STONE tournaments is is to find future stars or jewels in the rough. But I guess they didn't get many applicants this year because you'll notice that some of the usual suspects have turned up and of course they don't really belong in a ROUGH STONE tournament. The semi final matches will be on the Oct. 10 Shin-kiba 1st Ring show and the finals will be on the Dec. 17 Korakuen Hall show. Let's start with the 48kg tournament. Match one will have Kikuyo Ishikawa vs Fuuka Misaki. Ishikawa trains at Reversal Gym Yokohama. Her record is 2-2 and her last fight was a loss was to MIYOKO on the Mar. 19 JEWELS show. Fuuka Misaki is the fighter formerly known as Misaki Ozawa. She changed her ring name last year. She trains at Zendokai in Matsumoto. Her record is 1-5 and her last fight was a loss to Amiba on the July 31 JEWELS show. Match two has Yukiko Seki vs Yuko Kagoshima. Seki trains at FIGHT CHIX. Her record is 6-19 and her last fight was a win over MIYOKO on the July 31 JEWELS show. Kagoshima trains at Shinagawa CS. Her record is 1-4 and her last fight was a loss to Miyo Yoshida at the May 23 JEWELS show. In the past she has fought at 54kg and JEWELS believes 48kg is a better weight class for her. In 52kg, match one is Mai Ichii vs Miyo Yoshida. Ichii is a pro wrestler for Ice Ribbon. Her record is 3-4 and her last fight was a loss to Ham Seo Hee in the first round of the JEWELS Lightweight tournament on July 31. Yoshida is freelance. Her record is 1-1 and her last fight was a win over Yuko Kagoshima on the May 23 JEWELS show. Match two is Hiroko Kitamura vs Rina Tomita. Kitamura trains at Zendokai in Koganei. Her record is 4-1 and her last fight was a loss to Sally Krumdiak at the June 5 LLMA show in Seattle. At 38, she's a little old to be a prospect. Tomita trains at AACC. Her record is 2-4 and her last fight was a loss to Sakura Nomura on the June 5 Club DEEP show. In the 56kg tournament, match one will have Emi Murata vs MIZUKI. Murata trains at AACC. She won her debut over HARUMI on the July 31 JEWELS show. MIZUKI is very interesting. She just turned 16 last month. She trains at Zendokai so her background is karate. She debuted with the J-Girls kickboxing fed in May and has been training with veteran fighter Emi Fujino to prepare for her MMA debut. She is currently part of the J-Girls Catch The Stone 10 tournament. Match two will have ASAKO vs HARUMI. ASAKO trains at U-File. Her record is 3-4 but she has mostly worked as a kickboxer since 2005. She returned to MMA with a loss to Kikuyo Ishikawa on Sept. 13 JEWELS show. HARUMI trains at BLUE DOG. Her record is 0-15 and she lost to Emi Murata on the July 31 JEWELS show. And in a match contracted for 56kg, Miki Morifuji will face ARIYA. Morifuji trains at T-Blood. Her record is 9-6 and her last fight was a win over Shizuka Sugiyama on the Mar. 19 JEWELS show. ARIYA is returning to MMA after a long injury absense. She trains at FIGHT CHIX. Her record is 4-9-1 and her last fight was a loss to Akiko Naito on the Apr. 18, 2004 GCM Cross Section show. She also worked as a pro wrestler at JD. She returned to the ring on the July 25 J-Girls Catch The Stone 8 tournament. Obviously she is pals with Megumi Yabushita over at FIGHT CHIX. Like I said, there sure are a lot of veterans on this show for a ROUGH STONE show.
