Jango Song Of The Day-Jazmine Sullivan

Artist:Jazmine Sullivan f/Pepa
Song:Need U Bad
Album:Fearless

Jazmine Sullivan made a big splash on the R & B charts with her 2008 debut CD Fearless. She is an accomplished singer and songwriter with deep roots in Philly Soul. She was born Apr, 9, 1978 in Philadelphia. Her mom was a Philadelphia International backup singer. She grew up singing in church and was signed to Jive Records at age 16. She recorded a debut CD but it was never released and Jive dropped her. So she started writing for others including Fantasia and Christina Milian. Missy Elliott took her under her wing and this led to a contract with J Records. Need U Bad was the first single and it topped the R & B singles chart. Jazmine wrote the song with producers Missy Elliott and Cainon Lamb. It has a dance hall reggae vibe and the Jamaican patois at the beginning and end of the song is by Sandra "Pepa" Denton. Jazmine won a 2009 BET Centric Award and was nominated for several Grammys. I haven't seen anything about her next CD but she has been touring and made a guest appearance on Snoop Dogg's 2009 CD Malice n Wonderland. Here's the video for Need U Bad by Jazmine Sullivan.
