OZ Academy announces #1 contender's league

OZ Academy announced today a #1 contender's league with the winner getting a shot at Dynamite Kansai's OZ Academy Championship. Didn't they just do one of these long drawn out leagues a few months ago? Yeah but they're saying that this is Kansai's concept that supposedly gives all the participants an equal chance at the title shot. Of course the rules are different but it's designed to open things up for the usual Ozaki Army stuff and partners turning on each other etc. etc. The title match will be Aug. 16 at Korakuen Hall. The league will play itself out over five Shijuku FACE shows; Apr. 12, May 3, June 3, July 12 & Aug. 2. The five contenders are Aja Kong, Manami Toyota, Carlos Amano, Hiroyo Matsumoto & Hiren. Which one of these doesn't belong? And it's interesting to note that none of Kansai's pals are involved which I think would make this more interesting. These wrestlers will get points for any matches they are in on these shows. That includes tag team matches. There are three points for a singles win, two points for a tag team win where the wrestler scores the win, one point for a tag team where the wrestler does not score the win and zero points for losses or draws. Don't ask me who might win this. I'm not a CPA but it obviously sets up for numerous swerves and Ozaki loves doing stuff like that. Expect plenty of silliness. I have two problems with it. I just think it's too soon to do another long convoluted league since they did one last fall. And during that league, champ at the time Carlos Amano faded into the background and became irrelevant and I am concerned the same thing will happen to Kansai. You can be sure of one thing. It will be a very entertaining timewaster.
