Jaja Uma tournament continues

Sendai Girls continued their Jaja Uma tournament at the Sendai Harbour International Business Center on Mar. 29. It's going pretty much as expected. I still expect Ryo Mizunami to win. I was hoping that Kaoru Ito would let Hanako Kobayashi skip the next Ito Dojo show so she can go farther in this tournament. But I guess not. But she didn't lose to Misaki Ohata. It seems they had this really lame rule that if the match goes to a draw, the lighter wrestler moves on in the tournament. And that's what happened. What a bunch of crap. BOOOOOOO! I would prefer that Ohata win though she isn't any good. This is just a lame copout. The match was a typical draw though Kobayashi got a lot of offense in at the end with a diving body press and a missile kick. They exchanged near falls and exchanged blows when the bell rang to end the match. Ohata will face Sendai Sachiko who won over Yoko Yamada with an armbar at 5:30. Sachiko reached the ropes to excape a sleeper and then nailed Yamada with a high kick and a leg lariat and finished her off. Esui used her size advantage to beat DASH Chisako with a chokeslam at 13:00. Esui uses a lot of Mongolian chops and giant swings. I get it. She's big...but very awkward. Chiharo Oikawa uses kicks and submission holds to try and beat Ryo Mizunami. But Mizunami hits a diving shoulder block and a uranage to the back of Oikawa's head to set her up for the diving guillotine legdrop for the win at 8:41. Also, Hiren & Yukari Ishino won over Minori Makiba & Raika when Hiren used the ankle lock on Raika at 11:42.

  1. I think Ohata's good. Her selling is great, and she's adding some nifty submissions to her arsenal. She's slowly becoming a Junior Yumi Fukawa.

  2. That is a lame rule. Why would the lighter wrestler go on in the event of a draw? They should either decide by decision or give them a few minutes more overtime to decide.

  3. The tournament sucks anyway but this is the kind of compromise Meiko Satomura has to do to get wrestler to come to Sendai. Kobayashi wasn't going to be available for the final anyway but Ohata simply doesn't have the athletic ability for anyone to believe that she could win. Has she improved since she started in joshi 2 1/2 years ago? Yes but she'll never be anything more than lower midcard. She doesn't have the physical tools.

  4. She trains with Yoshida every time Yoshida is teaching, and even goes to bati bati when Yoshida can't. Athletic-wise she's just as good as any other girl. They only made it a tie because they already had other Ibuki wrestlers advancing, and didn't want to upset Ito Dojo by jobbing all of their wrestlers out. It has nothing to do with physical ability.

  5. Stop making excuses. The result of the match and the cheesy stip speaks for itself. Ohata isn't good enough to win an important match and Yoshida knows it or she wouldn't have agreed to it. The perception is it makes Ohata look bad and really doesn't elevate her.

  6. I agree the stip sucks and hurts Ohata's credibility to an extent, but that doesn't mean Ohata's ability had anything to do with it. Yoshida could have easily made a compromise with Kaoru Ito to let her girl advance this way, since it gets Ohata's name out there. Yoshida does a lot to get her girls' names out there, like randomly being on the Hardcore Ladies show or the New AJW shows. Besides it ended with her having Hanako in a pinning predicament meaning there's a chance she would have won booking wise.

  7. That's where you're wrong. This tournament has a much higher profile than that stuff. And her ability is relevant. Yoshida should have insisted on a clear win and the fact she didn't do that says that Yoshida knows she's not good enough to get a clean win in a big match. The politics don't affect the perception. OK that's it. If you respond further it won't be approved. It's getting repetitive and you're never going to get it. I get the last word around here when dealing with dopey fanboys.
