Here's the video of last night's match between Cristiane Cyborg & Hitomi Akano on the Strikeforce show. It turned out pretty much as expected. Who knows how much Cyborg weighed by fight time? The whole thing was disgraceful. The show was on PPV in Canada. I ain't paying fifty bucks for this crap. The fight was stopped at 35 seconds of round three. Akano hung in the fight pretty well. The fight lasted much longer than it should have and it would have been really funny if Akano's flying armbar attempt had worked. So Akano deserves a lot of credit for not lying down but it makes me wonder about Cyborg's ability to finish. Now that this nonsense is over, we can go on to the fight everyone wants to see. Strikeforce owner Scott Coker said that Gina Carano vs Cristiane Cyborg will happen in August but don't be surprised if the fight is delayed if CBS wants it for the fall. Gina was there so she's obviously close to signing. And it's interesting that every time Gina was shown on screen, the crowd went crazy. And they booed Cyborg. So I guess Strikeforce is setting up a good old fashioned babyface/heel dynamic. That's going to put butts in the seats and eyeballs in front of the TV. They'd better make it the main event of the show. And who cares what the weight class is like it means something. Cyborg said afterwards that she didn't make weight due to "woman trouble". Yeah, right. So Strikeforce got Cyborg over as a monster like they wanted. That won't work with Gina. Gina is Cyborg's equal as a striker and Gina has also proven to be a strong tactician. Keep underestimating Gina Carano. That motivates her. Enjoy the video!
