Yahoo LAUNCHCAST Song Of The Day-Dave Hole

Artist:Dave Hole

Song:White Trash Girl

Album:Rough Diamond

Slide guitar whiz Dave Hole has built a very loyal following in the blues community from very unlikely beginnings. He was born Mar. 30, 1948 in Heswall, Cheshire, England and moved with his family to Perth, Australia at age four. He heard a Muddy Waters album as a child and by age 16 he was picking up guitar riffs from Elmore James records. You may notice his playing style is unusual due to a broken finger he suffered from a childhood football accident. It hasn't affected his proficiency on the guitar. He played the Australian club circuit for years until he produced an album in 1990. He sent a copy to Guitar Player Magazine and they raved about him. This got the attention of Alligator Records owner Bruce Iglauer and Hole became the first non North American musician to sign with Alligator. He released several CDs on Alligator but with this new CD Rough Diamond has moved to Blind Pig Records. Hole is a very energetic musician and he continues to gather a rabid following among blues fans worldwide. He's someone worth checking out. Here's Dave Hole performing White Trash Girl in The Netherlands March 2005.
