Many music fans will recall R & B singer Tracie Spencer when she was a child. This 1999 CD was her coming of age and it did well but she hasn't recorded since. She was born July 12, 1976 in Waterloo, IA. She appeared on Star Search and at 12 years old became the youngest female artist to ever sign with Capitol Records. Her first two albums did well and the 1990 single This House was a top five hit. She went back home to finish high school and persued modelling and acting in the mid 90s. She appeared in the films Down In The Delta & Girlfight. While continuing modelling, Tracie returned to music with the 1999 CD Tracie. It had a much more mature R & B sound and she described it as a coming of age album. It's All About You was a top 20 pop hit. The song and most of the album was produced by veteran R & B producers Karlin & Soulshock. These guys still work together and recently worked on Kelly Rowland's CD. In recent years she has sung backup vocals for rappers Eve, G-Unit, 50 Cent & Kanye West but Tracie continues to model and there's been talk about her returning to music. Hi there. I was doing an internet search to find the name of the cassette that Tracie Spencer's song This House was on and your blog popped up! I think the cassette was a music sampler and I'm pretty sure it came with the old Ford Taurus station wagon from the 1990s. Just wondering if your remembered that, if you maybe had more information about this little bit of nostalgia! Well, thanks anyway, and great blog!
ReplyDeleteVery limited availability. The song is actually called In This House. Surprisingly, it's not on any various artists CDs. Capitol released a Best Of Tracie Spencer CD in 1996 that seems to be out of print. But her 1990 CD Make The Differnce is available for less than ten bucks on Amazon. Try that.
