Vanessa Porto wins at Fatal Femmes Fighting show

Fatal Femmes Fighting had their latest show Nov. 3 at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, CA. The main event was supposed to be Vanessa Porto vs Roxanne Modaferri. Unfortunately Modaferri was forced to drop out due to a shoulder injury. Hitomi Akano was brought in from Japan to fill in. That's always tough but Akano put on a good show and Porto won a split decision based on her control of Akano in the first two rounds. Apparently Akano broke Porto's nose with a heel kick but Porto scored enough points to hold on for the win. Porto's record is 7-2 and Akano is 11-5. I wonder what would happen if Akano had more time to prepare.

The semi-main was Lisa Ward vs Megumi Yabushita. Ward is coming off her Bodog loss to Megumi Fujii and she's giving up a bit of weight to Yabushita. Lately it seems Yabushita hasn't been as aggressive as she used to be and that's what happened here. Ward was more active and won a unanimous decision. Her record is 10-3 and Yabushita is 13-12. Sophie Bagherdai made her debut on the first FFF show. She was against newcomer Michelle Ould. Bagherdai remained undefeated at 3-0 and pounded Ould until the ref stopped the match at 1:58 of round one. Ould is now 1-1. Christina Riddering & Karina Taylor both debuted and Riddering won a unanimous decision.

Brandy Nerney made a successful debut on the last FFF show. Veteran Yukiko Seki was brought in to face her. She trains at Yabushita's Tomoegumi dojo and is a good fighter but she's in the very tough 48kg class and usually loses. This was a very exciting match. Nerney landed some very powerful punches and Seki could have packed it in. But she didn't and came back with her own shots. That's pretty much the way the match went. Nerney won a unanimous decision and is 2-0. Seki is 4-12 but she always puts on a good show.

Sally Krumdiak & Allison Duckworth both made their FFF debuts with a close and spirited match. Krumdiak won a decision but the crowd booed as they thought it should have gone the other way. Krumdiak is now 1-1. Cindy Hales made her MMA debut with a win over Shawn Tamarabuchi. Hales used her submission skills to get an armbar submission at 1:30 of round two. Tamarabuchi is now 0-2. So it looks like another good show for Fatal Femmes Fighting. They've been getting some media coverage and we look forward to their future activities.
