Here's the fight video of Jacqueline Cavalcanti vs Julia Avila from last night's UFC show in Las Vegas. This fight is at Bantamweight. Jacqueline was born in Brazil but lives in Portugal. For this fight, she trained with John Wood at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas. She's 3-0 in the UFC. She is mainly a striker. Julia is 36 years old. She's from Los Angeles but she owns her own gym in Oklahoma City. She's 3-2 in the UFC. She's had two knee surgeries. So I think she has slowed down from what she was like when I first saw her a few years ago. I was thinking before this fight that this could be her swan song. And she fought that way too. Julia never got close enough to generate any offense. She may have been concerned that if she got too close, Jacqueline would knock her out. So Jacqueline won easily 30-27 but I think she wanted a finish. Afterwards, Julia announced her retirement. I figured she would get released anyway. Enjoy the video!
