Marina Lima is a Brazilian singer songwriter who is considered to be a pioneer in rock in Brazil. The 1984 single Fullgas is her biggest hit. She was born Sept. 17, 1955 in Brazil. As a child, she lived in the US where her father worked. Marina usually writes songs with her brother Antonio Cicero. When Gal Costa recorded one of their songs, it got Marina a record deal. She had success when she signed with Philips Records for the 1984 album Fullgas. At the time she went by Marina. But she started using her full name when she switched to EMI in the 90s. Fullgas was a big enough hit that it paved the way for success through the mid 90s. At that point, she suffered from depression and had problems with her voice. So she wasn't as active until she made a big return on the 2003 TV show Acoustico MTV (MTV Unplugged). She recorded more regularly after that. She released her latest album in 2015. Marina still performs but she was really popular back in the 80s. You can get all her hits on this budget comp. Here's the video for Fullgas by Marina Lima.
