AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Glass Animals

Artist:Glass Animals

Song:Life Itself

Album:How to Be a Human Being

The British band Glass Animals have had modest success to date. A move to a larger label will probably help them. I would describe their music as electropop with other elements mixed in. They are from Oxford, England. Dave Bayley is the lead singer and songwriter. He's Welsh but he lived in the US as a child. His family moved to Oxford when he was 14. Bayley was a medical student at King's College when he started writing. He formed Glass Animals with Drew MacFarlane on guitar, Ed Irwin-Singer on bass and Joe Seaward on drums. They were friends in high school. After releasing an EP in 2012, they were spotted by Adele's producer Paul Epworth and he signed them to his Wolf Tone label with Caroline distribution. Their debut album Zaba was released in 2014. They had some success in England with singles like Gooey. Life Itself is from the 2015 album How to Be a Human Being. The album did OK but there was no hit single. The last leg of their 2018 tour was cancelled when Joe Seaward was hit by a lorry while on his bicycle. For the 2020 album Dreamland, Epworth moved Wolf Tone to Polydor/Universal for wider distribution and promotion. It worked because the single Heat Waves reached #19 on the Billboard Hot 100. Sometimes all a band needs is better distribution and promotion. And that may be true of Glass Animals. Time will tell. Here's the video for Life Itself by Glass Animals.
