AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Black Mountain

Artist:Black Mountain

Song:Stormy High

Album:In the Future

Black Mountain is one of two bands led by Canadian singer songwriter Stephen McBean. The other is Pink Mountaintops. McBean alternates between the two bands. Black Mountain is a neo psychedelic indie band. The 2008 album In the Future was their breakthrough album. But it's not like Black Mountain will ever score a hit single. McBean is from Vancouver. He had several bands before he formed Black Mountain in 2003. McBean's band Jerk with a Bomb signed with Jagjaguwar in 1999. They released three albums. The label may have suggested the name change and McBean knew he would have to change it anyway. There was a song on their first album called Black Mountain so McBean chose that name. Stormy High is from the 2008 album In the Future. Band members at the time were Amber Webber on vocals, Jeremy Schmidt on keyboards, Matthew Camirand on bass and Joshua Wells on drums. McBean moved to Los Angeles in 2010. Schmidt went with him. McBean hires musicians for touring. I don't think Pink Mountaintops is active right now. McBean seems to be concentrating on Black Mountain. Pink Mountaintops was a home recording project that was never supposed to be a band. Fans of neo psychedelia should check out Black Mountain. Here's Black Mountain performing Stormy High at The Annandale Hotel in Sydney, Australia Mar. 5, 2009 produced by Moshcam.
