Temples are a British indie band. I would describe their music as neo-psychedelic. They will release a new album next month. Temples are from Kettering, Northamptonshire, England. It's 70 miles north of London. Lead singer and guitarist James Bagshaw and bassist Tom Walmsley started Temples in 2012 as a home studio side project. They knew each other from rival bands and at one time both were in local bands The Moons and Sukie. After uploading four tracks to Youtube, Temples signed with Heavenly Records and released a single. They added drummer Sam Toms and keyboard player Adam Smith so Temples could perform live. After touring, the album Sun Structures was released in 2014. This was released in the US on Fat Possum. The album did well in England and they appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Ellen. Strange Or Be Forgotten is from the 2017 album Volcano. The album did OK but Temples has now signed with Dave Matthews' ATO label. Their new album Hot Motion will be released next month. They will tour to support it. It remains to be seen if greater expectations come with the move to a larger label. Toms left Temples last year initially to go solo but he has now joined the band Fat White Family. He won't be replaced. Temples is hiring drummers to play live. Bagshaw and Walmsley still create all the music in the studio. They only added guys to recreate the music live. And that's why Toms left. He wanted to contribute to Temples creatively and they didn't need that from him. Check out Temples if you like neo-psychedelia. Here's the video for Strange Or Be Forgotten by Temples.
