Song:Matchmaker
Album:Fiddler on the Roof: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Recording: 30th Anniversary Edition
Rosalind Harris, Michele Marsh and Neva Small played the three sisters in the 1971 film Fiddler on the Roof. And they sing Matchmaker at the beginning of the film that does a lot to set up the story. This film was the most notable thing any of them has done. Rosalind was born Mar. 19, 1950. She played Tzeitel in the Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof and then the film. And then 20 years later she played the mother Golde in a touring production of the show. Other than that she did mostly touring companies including playing Fanny Brice in ten touring productions of Funny Girl. And she played Fanny Brice in the 1984 film The Cotton Club. She owns a jewelry business. Michele was born Michele Noelle Buhler Dec. 20, 1946 in Mulhouse, France. Her family moved to the US and eventually settled in California and her father taught music. After theater appearances in San Francisco, she was cast as Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof. Since then she has appeared in regional theater and plenty of one shot TV appearances. Neva Small was born Nov. 17, 1952 in New York City. At age ten she appeared in the New York City Opera. She appeared in several Broadway shows as a teen including The Impossible Years in 1965. She even recorded a few singles for MGM. She was going to attend Juilliard after graduating high school but then she was cast as Chava in Fiddler on the Roof. After that she returned to the stage. She released an album in 2004 and she did a one woman show in 2007. So as I said, singing Matchmaker was the biggest thing that any of them ever did. The Fiddler on the Roof soundtrack is available in a 30th Anniversary edition with bonus tracks. Here's Rosalind Harris, Michele Marsh and Neva Small performing Matchmaker in the 1971 film Fiddler on the Roof.
