Song:Your Maytag Done Broke Down
Album:Florida Blues
Bill "Sauce Boss" Wharton plays a mean slide guitar. He also serves gumbo on stage and you can buy his hot sauce. I'm not kidding. Wharton has been around since the 80s. He's from Tallahassee, FL. He first recorded in the 80s for the blues label Ichiban. After they closed, Wharton recorded for Bob Greenlee's Kingsnake label until he started his own Burning Disk label after Greenlee died. I guess he's also a trained chef. And he started producing Liquid Summer Hot Sauce. You can buy it at his shows. So he decided to start cooking during his shows. He wears a chef's outfit while playing his guitar. He serves gumbo and you can find the recipe on his website. As you will see in the video, Wharton can play. Your Maytag Done Broke Down is from his 2006 CD Florida Blues. Musicians are Lucky Peterson on keyboards, Kenny Neal on guitar, Pat Ramsey on harp, Bob Greenlee on bass and Tony Coleman on drums. Wharton is constantly touring, sometimes with a band and sometimes solo. His music is heavily influenced by Louisiana Swamp Rock. He thinks of his music as a mix of several styles which is why he serves gumbo. He also has his Planet Gumbo non profit where he visits a local soup kitchen and serves gumbo to the poor. So if Wharton is coming your way, you'll hear great music and he'll feed you. Here's Bill "Sauce Boss" Wharton performing Your Maytag Done Broke Down at radio station WHUP in Hillsborough, FL Dec. 2, 2016.
