Artist:The Barr Brothers
Song:Beggar In The Morning
Album:The Barr Brothers
The folk music duo The Barr Brothers used to be in a band. But they are having some success on their own. Andrew and Brad Barr are from Providence, RI but they now live in Montreal. While attending Berklee in Boston, they joined The Slip. That band made their recording debut in 1996 and they went in hiatus in 2007. The Slip continued though they aren't active right now. But The Barr Brothers moved to Montreal. In his new apartment, Brad Barr heard a harp through his bedroom wall. He went next door to introduce himself to classically trained harpist Sarah Page. The three began performing as The Barr Brothers. They signed with Montreal based indie label Secret City Records and released the 2011 album The Barr Brothers. Beggar In The Morning was the first single. The album was critically acclaimed and they went on tour. They appeared on the Montreal Jazz Festival and they appeared on Late Night with David Letterman. And they were nominated for a Juno. Since then they have released two albums and an EP. Their latest album Queens of the Breakers was released in 2017. Sarah Page has left the group. The Barr Brothers usually hire musicians for touring though it appears that keyboard player Andres Vial is now a regular member. They recently won a Felix award for concert of the year in Quebec. They are currently touring eastern Canada and the northeast US. Here's the video for Beggar In The Morning by The Barr Brothers.
