Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

Big Bad Blog Video Theater-Nicco Montano vs Roxanne Modafferi
Here's the match video of Nicco Montano vs Roxanne Modafferi from The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale to crown the inaugural UFC Women's Flyweight Champion. The problem with TUF 26 was the fighter talent level was shockingly low, even worse than TUF 23. We saw that in some of last night's fights. Some of them are inept. I also didn't care for the return of former Invicta champ Barb Honchak. Obviously they did that to have a clear favorite. But the long layoff has clearly hurt her. She doesn't have the quickness she used to have. As I always say, Father Time is undefeated. The championship match was supposed to be Sijara Eubanks vs Nicco Montano. Sijara is an Invicta veteran. The problem with her is three of her four fights were at Bantamweight. And during the show, she had problems making weight. She cut her damn hair to make weight. So I don't think anyone was surprised when she landed in the hospital on Thursday. At some point, the UFC needs to start taking responsibility for unsafe weight cutting. In this case, they are to blame for allowing Sijara on TUF 26 in the first place. They need to be proactive in avoiding this kind of crap. Fighters are not to be trusted. Of course they are going to say they can make weight. Sometimes the UFC just has to say no. Fortunately, Roxanne filled in admirably. This was a potential big disaster that could have been easily avoided with common sense. As for Nicco, she was seeded low because of her lack of experience. But unlike some of the higher seeds, she comes from a good camp and I suspect the UFC sandbagged her to possibly have an underdog champ. Nicco trains at Fit NHB in New Mexico. Her teammates include UFC fighter Tim Means and Invicta fighter Amber Brown. The fight itself was decent. I scored it 49-46 for Nicco. I'm sure the last minute change hurt Roxy more than Nicco. She didn't prepare for five rounds. The whole thing could have turned out a lot worse. And they got a Fight Of The Night bonus. Nicco and her boyfriend were living in a leaky basement. Now they can move to a decent place. We'll see if Nicco can defend the title. That will be tough. There were other women's fights on the show. They were all pretty bad and I don't have the time to post them all with another UFC show on tonight. So enjoy this fight as it's pretty good.
