Richard "Chubb Rock" Simpson had success on the rap charts in the early 90s. But he never crossed over to pop. Treat 'Em Right topped the rap charts in 1991. He was born May 28, 1968 in Brooklyn, NY. Usually he worked with his cousin Howard "Howie Tee" Thompson. When Thompson became house producer for Select Records, he brought Simpson with him. Thompson's greatest success was producing Color Me Badd. The One was Simpson's third album in 1991. Treat 'Em Right was his first number one rap hit. It samples the 1979 First Choice song Love Thang. Simpson's biggest hit Just Ask Me To was a top ten R&B hit because Tevin Campbell did a guest shot. Campbell was hot at the time. Simpson recorded four albums and he was a member of the 1995 edition of the Crooklyn Dodgers. Simpson is still around. He released an album in 2009 and he appeared on the 2011 hit Summertime Anthem by R&B singer Eric Roberson. Here's the video for Treat 'Em Right by Chubb Rock.
