Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

FLASH one day joshi puroresu team tournament announced
A press conference was held today to announce a very unique one day joshi puroresu tournament October 27 at Korakuen Hall. It will be called FLASH and it appears that Meiko Satomura of Sendai Girls is behind this. It's a team competition between the various joshi companies. They made a point of mentioning that over 40 wrestlers will participate in this. I guess quantity equals quality. The teams are Pro Wrestling WAVE, JWP, Sendai Girls, Ice Ribbon, REINA, Stardom, Diana and a freelance team. The tournament format is very convoluted. Round one will be five vs five. Round two will be three vs three. And the final will be two singles matches and a traditional two vs two tag team match. I guess it's different but that doesn't mean it will draw. When GAMI started crowing that it could draw 2000 fans, someone should have told her to put a sock in it. They drew lots to determine the first round. The matches will be JWP vs WAVE, Sendai Girls vs Ice Ribbon, Stardom vs REINA and Diana vs Freelance. The promotion leader chooses the wrestlers for each match. For example, WAVE is only bringing five wrestlers while Ice Ribbon will bring 15. Both REINA and Diana plan to bring in gaijin wrestlers to be named later. The freelance team is Sakura Hirota, Jaguar Yokota, Manami Toyota, Mio Shirai and Nancy Mari. They suggested that more freelancers could be added. Not participating in this are OZ Academy, LLPW and SMASH. And it also looks like S-Ovation wrestlers Hiroyo Matsumoto, Misaki Ohata and Tomoka Nakagawa won't be involved. And there's no sign of Ayumi Kurihara, Kana or Io Shirai. But they are freelance and I suppose they could be added later. That's a lot of star power that won't be on this show. Could this be good? I guess but considering the convoluted format, a train wreck is more likely.
