Artist:Weathers
Song:Happy Pills
Album:Now That's What I Call Music! 60
Back in 2016, Weathers looked like they were going to be the next big thing when the single Happy Pills was the most added song on Alternative radio and it was added to this Now comp which was supposed to spotlight up and coming bands. They had a major label deal with RCA. But then things went south. Let's start from the beginning. Weathers is from Los Angeles. In 2011, Cameron Boyer formed a band called One Youth and changed it to Above Seclusion. They released two albums on Apple Music. Then he met Cameron Olsen at the 2012 Manhattan Beach Battle of the Bands where he was competing with his band Colorblind. The two started working together. Boyer is lead singer. Olsen is lead guitarist. They added drummer Cole Carson and later bassist Brennan Bates. The band name was changed a couple of times. But by 2015 they were called Weathers and they signed with RCA Records. That's when Happy Pills was released and it did very well for a new band. It reached #21 on the Alternative Rock chart and appeared on this Now 60 album that was supposed to spotlight up and coming bands. What RCA should have done was send them to the studio to record an album. But instead Weathers toured and recorded a couple of EPs while on tour. Then they released the EPs as the album Kids in the Night in 2018. By that time music fans had forgotten about Weathers and the album didn't sell. This was mostly RCA's fault so they should have given them another chance. But they were dropped. After releasing music on their own label, Weathers signed with Sumerian Records and released the 2023 album Are We Having Fun?. So Weathers is starting all over. Here's the video for Happy Pills by Weathers.
