AccuRadio Song Of The Day-David Haskell and Stephen Nathan

Artist:David Haskell and Stephen Nathan
Song:All For The Best
Album:Godspell: 40th Anniversary Celebration

The interesting thing about the original off-Broadway production of the musical Godspell is there were no stars in the show. Because it started as a workshop, everyone in the cast was making their debut. So when I have a good video clip, it's interesting to see what became of the actors. David Haskell played John the Baptist and Judas Iscariot in the off-Broadway production and the film of Godspell. Stephen Nathan played Jesus Christ in the stage play but was replaced by Victor Garber from the Toronto cast in the movie. All For The Best was their big number. Haskell was born June 4, 1948 in Stockton, CA. He got involved in Godspell while attending Carnegie Mellon University. That's where Godspell began as a workshop. Haskell appeared in the stage production and the 1973 film of Godspell. He also appeared in the 1976 off-Broadway production of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure. Then he moved to Los Angeles and did TV guest shots for the rest of his career. Haskell was a regular on the daytime soap Santa Barbara from 1984-85. David Haskell died of brain cancer on Aug. 30, 2000 at age 52. His daughter is a lawyer in Los Angeles. Stephen Nathan was born Aug. 21, 1948 in Buffalo. Godspell was his acting debut. Then he moved to Los Angeles and was a regular on the 1977 sitcom Busting Loose. In the 80s, he turned to writing sitcoms and then producing in the 90s. He was executive producer of the 1998 sitcom Jesse and the 2002 drama Joan Of Arcadia. Nathan is currently executive producer of Bones. He still writes episodes of Bones. This 2CD 40th anniversary release has both the 1971 original cast and the 1973 film Soundtrack of Godspell. Here's David Haskell and Stephen Nathan performing All For The Best on The Best Of Broadway from the PBS series Great Performances 1985.
