World Woman Pro Wrestling Diana CEO Kyoko Inoue announced today that Nagisa Nozaki has been released from her contract effective immediately. Her match this Sunday against Aja Kong has been cancelled and a replacement match will be announced at a press conference tomorrow. Apparently Nozaki did not show up for the May 4 World Arena show. That's Diana's dojo. When Inoue posted the announcement on the Diana website a few hours ago, she said Nozaki was caught smoking weed but that has now been removed. The possibility is that Nozaki could get blackballed from joshi for smoking weed. So I don't know if it's true or not. Nozaki acknowledged on her blog that the dismissal was her fault. She is considering various options including retirement. She said she still wanted to work an upcoming Pro Wrestling WAVE show and it appears GAMI may agree to that. Retirement would not surprise me. She seems to be injury prone and had reconstructive shoulder surgery in 2009. It's not good for Diana because they obviously planned to give her a heel push. Nozaki is a pretty girl so she's marketable. But she's small which makes it questionable that she could survive the grind of the joshi business. The other thing is last week she posted on her Twitter that she wanted to leave Diana and work for SMASH. She later removed this. She has worked a couple of matches at SMASH. But I'm not sure TAJIRI is prepared to hire her full time. And the possible weed smoking would be a problem for any of the companies. So it looks like this might be the end for Nagisa Nozaki.
