Artist:NF
Song:Let You Down
Album:Perception
Nathan "NF" Feuerstein is a Christian rapper who crossed over to pop in a big way with the 2017 single Let You Down which was a top 20 pop hit. I guess NF is a Christian version of Eminem which would not be unusual because Eminem would not be accepted by Christians. No doubt the single got mainstream airplay because some thought it was Eminem. And both guys are from Michigan. Feuerstein was born Mar. 30, 1991 in Gladwin, MI. His parents divorced and his mother's new boyfriend abused them and his mom died of a drug overdose. Let You Down is clearly about Feuerstein's childhood. After winning a rap contest, Feuerstein released an album independently in 2010. He signed with a local label but he couldn't seem to see eye to eye with them. And in 2014, he signed with Capitol Christian Music Group. It looks like legendary Christian rapper TobyMac got him the deal. The album Mansion was released in 2015 followed by Therapy Session in 2016. He was doing well on the Christian Music charts. But the 2017 album Perception and the single Let You Down crossed Feuerstein over to pop. It reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100. I think it could be a fluke because as I said, listeners may have mistaken him for Eminem. He is still working with producers Tommee Profitt and TobyMac producer David Garcia. So he isn't doing anything different. Most of his songs are about his rough childhood. Some reviewers have criticized him for being one dimensional. Feuerstein claims he isn't a Christian rapper but he makes music for everyone. But he is on a Christian record label that sells him as an acceptable alternative to Eminem. Time will tell but Feuerstein has a high probability of being a one hit wonder. Here's the video for Let You Down by NF.
