Car Seat Headrest started as a home studio project by Will Toledo. Then he signed with Matador Records and turned it into a band. The music will remind you of 80s emo punk. Toledo is from Leesburg, VA. He majored in English in college. But he started recording music on his home PC. He called himself Car Seat Headrest because he recorded vocals in the back seat of his car for privacy. He released eight albums on Bandcamp. There was enough buzz about his music that he signed with Matador Records in 2015. And he decided to form a band with Ethan Ives on guitar, Seth Dalby on bass and Andrew Katz on drums. The first Matador CD Teens Of Style was a comp of previous albums. The 2016 CD Teens Of Denial was the first album by the full band. The band toured and appeared on the late night talk show circuit. This band is recommended to fans of retro punk. Car Seat Headrest has released a new CD Twin Fantasy (Face To Face) which is a re-recording of a 2011 album.
